She fought. She fought hard but in the end, it was too much for her. Watching her die: wasn't hard, planning the funeral: wasn't hard. The hardest thing, calling her mother.

Calling a woman that you've never officially met to tell her that her daughter died of cancer and we needed her to come to the funeral, was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Emily couldn't do it so I said that I would. I never want to make a call like that ever again.

Freddie tried his hardest to get Cook furlough and he was granted, just as long as we paid for an officer to watch him. Effy was granted furlough as well. So it was a reunion for all of us there.

The funeral was nice. Nice and small. But there was a dark cloud above and it felt like the cloud was over us and only us. After the funeral, everyone that wanted to come back, everyone came to Freddie and I's place. But Cook and Effy couldn't come. They had to go back to jail.

"Thank you for handling everything." Gina tells us. "I know I wouldn't have been able to do it by myself."

"You're very welcome." Freddie says. "I'm glad we were there to do it."

"I just don't know why she didn't tell me." she sighs.

"She didn't want anyone to know." I say.

"She's always been stubborn like that. She never wanted anyone to know what was going on. Have you seen Emily? I missed her after the funeral."

"She's in our room." Freddie says. "She took a cab here as soon as it was over and never left." Gina nods.

"I don't think she wants to see anyone." She says. "Especially me. Thank you again." She hugs us both and leaves.

"Are you sure you want to stick around?" Freddie asks. "You can go lie down. I can handle it."

"No. I'm alright. The boys are fine. I just... I want this day to be over. And I want our sons to come." Freddie pulls me into his arms and I rest my head on his chest.

"All this death... a little life would be nice." He sighs.

"Ana," Katie comes over to us. "Has she left the room yet?" I shake my head. "I don't know what I could possibly say."

"Sometimes you don't have to say anything." I say. "Just being there helps." She nods and goes into our bedroom. I look over and see all of our old friends having a good time in our living room.

"It sucks." Freddie says. "That the one time we all come together after all this time is for a bloody funeral."

"I know babe. But at least they all came. Come on, let's go be sociable." Freddie and I join the group and the conversation. Panda and Thomas are still together,
