The First Nightmare

kall is a girl a daughter the daughter of eve light the most beautiful women in the kingdom. with white hair and soft milk chocolate skin with red eyes that are told to shine like jewels in the light and the kings favorite concubine.

also the daughter to gray light the best toymaker in her small town and best story teller who tells tales of the unknow lands and dragons and knights and queens whatever you could think of he had a story. He's also the father to kall's older brother sin the best thief in the kingdom light as a feather and as quick as the wind he has a reputation that doesn't exceed him.

then there Is me kall just kall plain old kall nothing special not beautiful like her mother or a story teller like her father or even a thief like her brother I'm just kall but being plain means that there's a chance that the king wont come for me like he did my mother. as I am nothing like my mom not anywhere as beautiful as my mother we share the same skin but not the same looks with dark brown hair and dull brown eyes I look more like my father.

my mother was told to be so beautiful that just looking at her you would fall in love. But my father saw past her beauty and saw her kind heart and for that she loved him more than any other man that came her way. I only had so little time with her but I remember her so clearly how she looked with long white hair with black roots and soft brown skin that felt like silk even thought she worked in the fields with the villagers even when she wasn't asked to she just wanted to help and the most beautiful smile that could brighten any ones day never one to get mad she was always happy you'd never see her without a smile she us to say there's only so little time in the world to be spending it on anything except happiness and the occasional moments of sadness I never got the last part but I still try my best to keep to stand by her words.

we never thought the king would take her from us like he did just one day the royal guards came to our home and ripped her away from us with no explanation and that was the first and last time I ever saw her cry. after some time my mother died they say it was from her sadness and broken heart we could never see her again.

after my mothers death the king made a law that all women or girls that were born with any of the same features as my mother would be sent to the castle and trained to be his concubine no matter if they were fifteen or five. they were sent to the king and never came back this new law caused a rebellion and violence and death spread like a plague and who ever refused to send there daughters would be executed in the center of the kingdom to show what would happen if you rebel or disobeyed the king.

soon time past and it would already be fourteen years since my mothers death and I'm soon turning eighteen and I still haven't been able to bring my father back completely. when mother died it hit him the most he just disappeared not physically but mentally he just stayed in the room he and mother shared he didn't eat or talk just sat in the chair in the corner of the room she use to read in every day. he wouldn't even move then my grandfather had spoken to him then he went back to his normal self but you could still tell how sad he was. I want to find a way to make him feel not so alone and bring him back to his normal self.

"kall father said come down for dinner" I turn and see my brother sin in my door way he looked like a younger version of father with his dark brown hair and handsome face with a body full of muscles and a tall frame with me on the other hand also tall but with long dark brown hair that reaches my mid thigh "ok but can I get a piggy back ride" he crosses his arms" I don't know are you the one who ate my tarts from misses baker the other day" I nervously laugh and run out my darting past him and he chases after me "you little thief" he caught up to me and picked me up and spins around making me dizzy then stands me up and then I fall onto my but due to my dizziness "you are one to call her a thief and how dare you do that to my favorite" after I heard that the room came more still I saw dad hit sin against the head and I laugh.

"hello papa what's for dinner" he turns to me with a smile "well all of your and sins favorite foods" we head to the dinning table "what's the occasion" dad sighs "well I wont be here for your birthday and maybe not kall's either" my smile drops i turn around and face him. why wont he be here "why wont you be here? is it safe? are you going alone? is it far?" I am stopped by his hand " I'm going to see your grand parents your grand mother she is sick and no one can take care of her currently and i do not wish to take you out of the town you know the risk" I shake my head and sit at the dinning table and mope I hate the fact that the king may take notice of me if I leave the town even if he may not my father doesn't want to take the chance.

"don't worry ill be here and so will the town to celebrate your birthday" I look to sin and smile even thought that sounds nice I still wish for father to be here I'm turning eighteen and I will be at marriage age and wish for him to be here even thought I may not be courted as they say I don't wish to be the. men in the town don't seem like the type of men I would want to marry and its not like I can really go to other towns to search for one and I don't feel the need to either. the only men in my life I need is my father, brother, and grandfather id live a happy life in a cabin on my lonesome maybe with a dog or two "don't worry love ill be back as soon as possible" I shake my head who am I to be mad that he is caring for my sickly grandmother since he is the only person since grandfather went to sell goods to the main capital no one is there to help her. "just promise you'll be careful I don't want anything to happen to you" I shakes my head "of course I will return as soon as I can and I'll be back before you know it I leave tomorrow so I can back as soon as I can, promise" i shake my head and smile at him and begin to eat.

after dinner I head up to my room and sit  in my window seat and look out into the forest feeling a little sad. I see the snow fall slowly even thought I see it every day it still hasn't changed the fact that I love it and spring is one of my favorite seasons along side winter I love the flowers and the birds that chirp more then when its winter with the few that have come they were the best times of my short life we only ever get them one times every two years and very little summers almost never it would go winter spring then winter again and if lucky summer then fall then back to winter. after some time at my window I get ready for bed and change into my night gown and go to bed hoping that father will wake me before he leaves.

I wake up still at my window morning by now swearing i had went to bed I change out of my clothes and head down stairs to not see father or sin so i go to their rooms and their not there so I go into the living room and their not there I begin to look all in the house and decide to go out to look for them its not snowing so I can wear less then if it was snowing I put on one coat my boots with a hat and gloves and a thick scarf an head outside to see all the towns people at the center of the town or head there so i walk over there trying to get past so I can see then someone garbs my arm I look to see miss baker holding my arm.

"dear I think you should head back home and wait for someone to get you" I look at her confused "why and have you seen sin and father i cant seem to find them" she smiles shakes her head "maybe they are getting wood the winters have been getting colder as of late" and she then pulls on my arm and i see a few other villagers look at me weird I shake out of misses bakers grip and head back to the center a few other people try to stop me but I push past them and I finally make it to the center to see my father and sins head on stakes and the king standing beside them with a smile on his face and a few royal guards with him.

I scream out in pure agony at the sight and then as I turn to see all the towns people dead women, children, and even misses baker and blood every where on the ground slowly soaking into the dirt I fall to my knees and scream and cry hoping someone will hear me and help. I look up to see the king right in front of me with a bright and happy smile on his face. he walks towards me and grabs my face and gets close to my ear and says "i found you and your mine now" I scream again feeling like its the only thing I can do now. I then struggle as I feel arms around me "kall its me calm down" I hear father I open my eyes and see him and sin holding my arms down on the bed they let go when they see that I've woken up "papa I was so scared I thought you were dead and that he found me every one was dead" father looks worried he pats my back as I calm down and i lay back down "are you ok" sin askes me I just nod him and papa soon leave my room and i lay on my back looking at the roof wondering what is going on with me.
