A Bet and Nerds

First Step

18th Avenue, YulTaeSeo’s Apartment

        “Yesterday was the weirdest day of my life” Yuri dragged himself to their couch.

“Same here Hyung. I can’t believe the monkey boys did that to the toy store. It is barely identifiable right now. Good thing Eunhyuk hyung had some money to pay for the whole store” Seohyun got some water from the fridge.

“Hey, Where do you think did that money come from? I mean, It’s not like I don’t trust Hyuk but… You know, his business had just started a couple of months ago.” Taeyeon sat on the chair beside the dining table.  “Well MAYBE it came from his mother.” Yuri sarcastically stated.

“Whatever Yul, Seo, I’m going out.”

“Where are you going?”

“Nothing, I’ll just walk around the park. I cooked your breakfast so, eat well, and if ever you want to cook again, make sure to cook the food, and NOT let the food cook itself” Taeyeon emphasized the word NOT for Yul to understand. He then went out of their apartment.

Park near YulTaeSeo’s apartment

     A redhead is seated on a park bench alone. Kim Taeyeon, Kim Taeyeon, What did you do to me! I hate you. I really really hate you! Kim Taeyeon is just a bet Tiff. You can do it.. aaah..I can marry Nichkhun if I win this bet. Yes. hihi

“Ahem.” A petite guy cut the redhead’s train of thoughts. “You should learn not to say your thoughts out loud Miss.”

     “T-Taeyeon?” Tiffany was startled by his sudden appearance. “Did you hear it all?”

“Which one? The one where you said you hate me? Or the one where you said that I am just a Bet, or the one where you said you’re going to marry Nichkhun if you win the bet?” Taeyeon smiled at her.

Tiffany grew silent, not because she is already busted even before she even made a move to Taeyeon but because of how kind this Kim Taeyeon is, despite hearing the hurtful truth. “I-I’m sorry..” The redhead muttered.

   “Can I sit beside you?” The guy pointed on the space beside her. Tiffany nodded and bowed her head.

“Do you really love him Tippany?” Taeyeon looked at his hands. Please say no

“”Yes, More than anything.” The girl replied back.

“Why? Don’t get me wrong though.. I just want to know.” Taeyeon assuringly smiled at her.

Tiffany was taken aback by the sudden question made by Taeyeon, but she still answered anyway.

“Well, I like his smile. And his eyesmile. And because he’s a gentleman, I just can’t see myself with anyone except him in the future.”

    Ouch, Taeyeon nodded, “Then I’ll help you win the bet”

“W-What?! B-But.. No, Taeyeon.. Don’t” Tiffany refused to accept the guy’s offer.

The guy just smiled at her, “Don’t worry pany-ah. I’ll help you, You said you love him, I’ll do the bet with you. I’m your friend remember?” Friend.. Just a friend.

“But..”

“No buts pany.. Now come on, I’ll start courting you later.” Taeyeon smirked.

“But Taeyeon, You’ll be hurt in the end..”

“I will be hurt,but atleast I helped a friend.” The guy smiled.

“Aah, Fine. I’ll accept your offer..” Tiffany sighed in defeat. Stop smiling!

“Come on, I’ll walk you home.” Taeyeon grabbed Tiffany’s hand and started to walk together.

What’s this? Spark? “You don’t have to walk me home Taeyeon, I can walk by myself.” Tiffany said.

“I can’t let my future girlfriend walk by herself” Taeyeon looked up in the sky. “G-Girlfriend?”  Tiffany was again taken aback by this guy’s words.

“Yeah.. Girlfriend, but don’t worry.. I promise I won’t fall inlove with you because it’s all just a bet” Taeyeon raised his right hand and crossed his heart. I already broke it before I even made this promise. “Are you hungry Pany-ah?”

The redhead blushed upon hearing the name Taeyeon called her, Nobody has ever given her a nickname except him, Not even, Nichkhun. She always feels secured whenever the petite guy is around.

“Pani-ah! Here, I already bought it because your brain is still processing my words” Taeyeon chuckled and gave her the waffle he bought. “You two look cute together.” The waffle vendor smiled at them.

Tiffany blushed and looked the other way to avoid Taeyeon’s eyes. “Indeed. We do look cute together ahjussi, But, this fine lady over here isn’t mine” The latter told the vendor. She will never be mine.

“Oh, are you kidding me?” The ahjussi furrowed his eyebrows.

“Ok, She isn’t mine YET” Taeyeon winked at Tiffany which caused the girl to blush uncontrollably again.

“Hahaha! Young man, Treat me to that fancy restaurant over there if she gives you her “YES”” The vendor laughed at Taeyeon.

“Sure! We got to go now ahjussi! Bye” Taeyeon bid goodbye to him. I’ll treat you in some other life ahjussi.

19th Avenue, Outside a Big Building

     “So you live here?” Taeyeon looked up.

“Yeah. Uhm. So I guess this is goodbye for now.” Tiffany smiled at him.

“Can I have your number?”  They said in unison

    The two of them exchanged numbers.

“Done! See you later Pany-ah!” Taeyeon bid her goodbye.

  “Bye. Wait? What? Later? Kim Tae-“  Before she could even finish her sentence Taeyeon was nowhere in sight.

*RING*

_Taeyeon Kim Calling… _

“Hello? What do you mean by later?”

“See you later! I’ll drop by your house! We’ll go somewhere”

“What?! We’re having a date?”

“Well, no. It’s suppose to be a you know.. aish nevermind. But if you want it that way. Then it’s a date”

Pabo Tiff. Tiffany who was still outside the building smacked her own head because of her stupid choice of word.

“Yah! Stop smacking your head!”

“Huh? How did yo-“

“Look at the opposite side of the road.”

The redhead looked at the other side of the road and saw Taeyeon holding 3 stems of pink roses. The latter then crossed the road and stood infront of Tiffany who’s mouth is opened.

“Let’s start the courting shall we? First, Here are 3 stems of roses, It stands for the first step of being in a relationship.” Taeyeon spoke through his phone despite having Tiffany infront of him.

“What do you mean?” Tiffany looked at the pink roses.

“Let’s be friends.”
