Eve

Eve was a hurricane. The warning winds of the coming storm were nothing compared to the devastation and destruction she would leave in her wake. Picking up the pieces of whatever was left was almost useless for once she had passed and allowed your world to calm she was sure to come back with twice as much force.

Eve was an earthquake. She shook the very Earth and pulled the ground apart from underneath the unsuspecting, abolishing homes without mercy. Ruin surrounded her as she tore through the surface of the Earth as though it was mere tissue paper; the death and demolition caused by her was horrific.

But most of all Eve was a traitor. So perhaps when Ashara received a letter from the force which had caused her entire world to crumble it was no wonder her immediate reaction was to reach for the candle lighting her room to burn the very letter. And perhaps it was foolish that she didn't. But perhaps the most foolish thing of all was that she had agreed to meet with Eve one last time.

Staring up at the building which had once imprisoned her Ashara could not help but fear what may be awaiting her yet despite the fear she found her legs carrying her into the imposing structure. The hallways now appeared less threatening, being completely empty spare a few medical instruments here and there. The white rooms, which were no longer so white, less intimidating as they were completely vacant. Well, all except one.

337689A was no longer empty as it has been for the past twelve years. The metal door was left ajar revealing the off-white padded walls stained with rusty red. The mattress Ashara had once called her bed left exactly how she had remembered it. Taking a deep breath she entered the room.

"My Dear, you came," the smooth voice of the Arabic woman was music to Ashara's ears no matter how much she hated to admit it. A smile overcame Eve's mouth and lit up her eyes; it had been forever since Ashara had seen it.

Ashara seemed to forget her words as she laid eyes upon the beauty before her. It was as though nothing had changed and yet so much had - her icy blue eyes still sent a chill down her spine, golden tan skin almost seemed to sparkle under the sun just as it had before and chocolate brown hair which had grown from shoulder length to mid-back; if anything she had only become more beautiful.

"Yes," she managed after what felt like an eternity. Eve only laughed. This girl had not changed at all. Her blonde hair framed her face perfectly just as it had before, her skin light and freckled and eyes bright, green and hopeful. Breath-taking. It was a shame she could never see Ashara again after this.

"We have much to discuss My Dear," a gentle hand was laid on Ashara's elbow to guide her to the mattress. She barely had time to sit before Eve began speak which soon turned to a tearful conversation and in that moment Ashara knew why she was truly here. Eve was dying and this was their last goodbye.

Ashara had never seen Eve cry before, had never seen her this vulnerable before. It was as though Eve was presenting herself in her most fragile form; the once rock solid girl now turned to fragile glass and all she asked was please, do not shatter me. She would not have blamed Ashara if she did after how many times she had shattered the girl before slowly putting her back together yet Ashara did not shatter her. She couldn't. Instead of allowing Eve to shatter into a million pieces the blonde simply embraced her, holding all of her cracking pieces firmly in place.

"I never stopped loving you, you know?" Eve's words were barely above a whisper. Ashara finally broke as the tears slipped from her eyes. She could not reply, not due to tears but because she knew. She knew Eve had never stopped loving her and she knew Eve was aware that Ashara had. So instead of replying she kissed her.

Both girls felt something so final in that moment. They knew their encounter was coming to an end so until they had no choice but to part from each other they stayed there, connected, for one glorious last moment.

"You must go, My Dear, and don't look back. I won't be following you this time," the words pierced Ashara like a knife to her heart. She knew what this meant. She wanted to stay there for her old friend, lover and ally however it was time for her to leave for the very last time. And so Ashara stood and began walking to the door, her tears still a steady stream.

"I never thought we would say goodbye like this... Eve I - I wish things could have been different for us. I will miss you," she stopped just short of the door to speak yet didn't turn around as Eve laid herself down on the mattress.

"I know My Dear; I wish things had been different as well." Was the only reply she received before leaving the room and closing the door to allow Eve her peace.

Ashara strolled down the familiar hallways and out the, cold, dark building for the last time. Part of her wished she could hear Eve following her one last time but as she passed through the gates which lead to her own personal hell she felt a sense of relief. She never had to return. The ghosts of her past were finally set free. She was free. Eve had set her free.

Eve was a blessing who had set her free from everything which had tortured her. Eve loved her like no one else had and it made everything worthwhile.

Thank you, Eve. I will never forget you.

Hey all! Thank you for reading my story! I wrote this as a school project however I had been planning on writing it for ages. I truly love writing for Eve and Ashara and plan to write more in future! I worked on their backstory for so long I think it may be the most detailed backstory I have written and I only created them in 2016 whereas characters such as Cynthia (who will appear in a later part) have been around since 2014.

The next part shall hopefully be up soon! <3
