Dying Three Times

Phoenix, part 2 (Meeting With The Vamp)

        I just stood there. And stood there. And stood there.Taking it  all in. Just in 20 minutes, I've found my ex in demon form, witnessed people fight over me, saw two angels, a vamp, and the Devil himself and found out Will was a prince. A PRINCE. I would've never seen that one  coming. I know how much trouble I'm causing for these people, but I hope they don't give up on me. I'm actually excited to get stared with my training. To actually do something awesome with my dead life. Wait, what?

      "Where'd Gabe go?" I twitched, finally snapping out of shock. I also realized Dagger/ Veronica was gone as well, but Gabe seemed a bit more important at the moment.

     "Who knows, and who cares. He may be my best friend, but he can't take you. We need you." He said not looking up from his sword which he was twirling the top of the handle  in  his hands, making carvings in the solid floor. You could tell he was either angry and knew he couldn't show it, or sad and didn't want to express it. Or maybe both. I couldn't tell. I didn't really know how to comfort him. Then again, I was pretty bad at comforting people as a human.

     So I did the only thing I knew how. I walked over to him, and hugged him.

     He was tense at first, as if not expecting it. He soon relaxed, and hugged me back. We then soon pulled out of the embrace, and he smirked at me, his eyes the happiest I've ever seen them. The other angel I met today, I believe her name is Casen, had some how come into the room. But Will still didn't break eye contact with me.

     "Now let's get to training before anything else happens to you. Casen, do you have any time to come and help me?" Now he was full on grinning, creeping me out just a tad. I wonder how long this Will is going to last. I would guess not long.

      We finally broke eye contact and me looked over to the angel on the side of the room, "I don't believe I do. Sorry Will. I've got a meeting to attend. I'll be back soon enough. Good luck with Phenoix's training though." And with that, she flashed out with the light.

     "Let's go to the weapon shed before heading to the compound." Will spoke, not looking at me and putting his sword back in it's holder which was already swung over his shoulder. I'm surprised he didn't accidentally stab himself in the back, as I knew I would've done.

     "O-Okkay." I stuttered.  He gave me a confuse look, but shrugged it off and started walking to the wall behind me. I turned around and followed, not really knowing what he was doing or where the door was. I got a quick strike or fear but I calmed myself by saying You can trust him. He saved your ass earlier. over and over again in my head like a broken record. 

     Eventually, I proved myself right, as the demon prince put his hand on a slightly discolored brick that I didn't notice previously. He pushed it in, and some of the bricks moved,overlapping other ones, thus making a passageway for us to walk though. The passageway opened up to a huge mansion, with a grand staircase and a lit candle chandelier that was gold. Will spoke up, "Guess the house is bigger than you thought. That's just the room where we travel to the human world and back. And over here," he explained, jogging a bit to the next room over, "Are the portal chambers. The angles transport though water, and we transport though fire. Each portal takes you to a different place in the underworld. First we're going to the commons where you buy things from sheds. "

     "Sheds? Like stores?" I questioned.

     "Exactly. And shillings," he stated, holding up gold pieces with carvings on them "Are how you buy things, like money back on earth."

     "How do you earn shillings? Do you have jobs here as well?" My voice was becoming scratchy, as if coming down with a cold.

     "No, not really. You're given quests each week based on your skill level. If you complete the quest for the week, you will get a certain amount of shillings. The higher the skill level, the harder the quest, but the more shillings you receive for completing it. You'll start at level one, and work your way up to a level ten"
