I didn't even think twice about going. My brother had took the car, I took off in full sprint towards the hospital.

It was half a mile away, and I was running at full speed the entire time. I ignored my body's pleads to slow down.

By the time I arrived I was a sweating panting mess. I already new it was Courtney. Who else would it be?

"C-Courtney Miller!" I sputtered to the reception woman. She was slightly taken aback by my state,  but just told me, "Room 115. They aren't allowing visitors right now, you can wait in the waiting room near her room."

Discouraged by the fact I couldn't see her, I walked down the hall in search of the waiting room, allowing my breathing to even out a bit. It was still kind of ragged. I didn't even notice the tears coming from my eyes.

The waiting room happened to be right across from her actual hospital room. I walked in and Olivia was the only one there.

She ran up to me and engulfed me in a hug. I hugged her back as tightly as I could without hurting her. It didn't matter if we didn't know each other that well, we out knew Courtney. I may have not known her for nearly as long as Olivia, but we were still close and I knew we were her only friends.

"Shayne did you run all this way? How the hell did you get here so fast."

I ignored her question, not knowing the answer yet. Like sure we have to run a lot in our warmups for football, but not usually at top speed. Besides, I'm quarterback not someone who runs a bunch on the team. "What happened?!"

"She texted me to come over so I did, and I found her passed out on the ground." More tears came with her words and I wrapped her in another hug.

"Olivia?"

"Y-yes?"

"I-I think-."

A doctor cut me off. "We have news."

"Good or bad?"

He lightly shook his head.
