"If you don't fling your scrawny little ass over that cliff, I will put you over my shoulder and fling you myself," I threatened the little minx staring back at me, defiantly, her hands planted on her hips.

"Hey! If you are so hell bent on seeing splattered guts, fling your goddamn self off of that cliff," she gritted back, pointing forcefully in the direction of the water at the bottom of the cliff.

"Stop being a coward, and jump off the damn cliff," I argued, and instead of obeying my very clear command, she glared and stood her ground even harder.

"Coward? Listen here, baby cakes, I am a badass," she replied, gritting her teeth.

"Fine, then jump," I challenged, crossing my arms over my chest and smirking.

"I'll jump when I'm good and ready," she replied, huffing.

"Nissa, come on, we'll jump together?" Casey interjected, most like trying to prevent one of our arguments. After that trek up the trail, that we'd turned into a trek of ' how many arguments can we have before we make it to the edge of the cliff?',  I was pretty sure both her and Ryder were exhausted of them by now.

Turning towards her best friend, I watched the little demon, smile and nod. "Yeah, okay."

I gasped, my jaw going slack. "Wha-?"

She turned towards me, "I said when I was good and ready, didn't I? Well now I'm good and ready."

She smirked, smugly, flipped me off, linked her arm through Casey's and jumped right over the edge of the cliff, her screams of delight mixed in with Casey's traveling through the air.

I fought the urge to smile, shaking my head, amused.

"You ever gonna tell her, or are you going to live with that moony face all your life?"

"Tell who what?"

"Nissa, the psycho with the murdering tendencies and scary grins," he replied, shrugging. "Are you ever gonna tell her that you're a big sucker and she can bend you over her knee anytime she wants?"

"Says the guy lugging around a bottle of-" I squinted my eyes at his water bottle, trying to decipher what the hell was in the damn thing, "what the hell is even in that thing?"

"I'm doing this because I want to. Just because Case recommended it, does not mean I'm whipped."

"And the sweater vest you were wearing a couple of months ago?"

"Hey! My girlfriend thought I looked sexy as fuck...admittedly we both decided that we prefer the leather jackets, but that's besides the point," he fought back, crossing his arms over his chest, and glaring like a petulant child.

"Yeah, you still have a leash around your neck and a whip on your ass," I replied, smirking, and he gave me a smug look.

"You know, it's not a bad thing, right?"

"What?" I asked, confused, turning towards him.

"Nissa is great, a little crazy, but she's a great girl, and after the shit you've been through it's not a bad thing to want to be with someone who makes you happy," he shrugged.

"You're seeing things, Cavanaugh," I snipped back, my defensive mechanism kicking in.

I'd never been comfortable discussing my feelings for Nissa. I wasn't comfortable admitting them to myself; I just wasn't ready for that.

"If you really want to convince people of that, Dashwood, I suggest you tone down the the lovey-dovey looks."

Turning to the asshole standing on the other side of the clearing, his hands planted on his hips as he stared at me with a smug, knowing look, I glared. I would bash his head into a tree, but I wasn't an idiot. Casey would have my balls hung from her rear view mirror before I could even try to run.
