The rest of the week was quiet for the most part. After Monday Avery and George rarely spoke. Tuesday rolled on and Avery went to work. Instead of going straight home though she called George to tell him she'd be late. Instead she found herself jogging up the front steps to the library. She glanced around when she'd opened the doors. After a slight hesitation she moved toward the directory computers and typed in the search. There wasn't much listened in the way of genies. This made her frown but she wrote them down anyway and went in search of the books.
Two hours later she was asked to leave. But she'd gotten more than what she'd gone looking for. The history she'd read hadn't been good. They'd even been liked to devils in one book. It was on her walk home that she thought of Aladdin. He'd wished his gene free. Could she do that for George? Or was that just 'Movie Magic'? If she did wish him free they could be together. She slowed to a stop and clutched at her jacket. No, not anymore. Not with the wish she'd just made.
Avery let out a slow breath. That didn't mean she couldn't try though, right? The worse that would happen would be that he couldn't grant it and she'd still have a wish. She could use it to find another way to free him. Though she hadn't been able to find anything on how to do it. She'd have to go back tomorrow and see if she could find anything online. Of course she wouldn't do that at home. He'd be able to see what she was searching. Or she could just ask and save a boatload of trouble.
She pushed open the door of her building after inputting the code and shuffled over to her mail box. She grinned when she found a letter from Kate. Rushing the rest of the way to her apartment she threw open the door. George actually jumped, dropping the pan he was cleaning in the sink. "I got a letter from Kate." she all but yelled as she dropped her stuff by the door and rushed over to the couch as she opened it.
She settled back with a smile, tossing the envelope aside before she started to read:
Dearest Avery (and Handsome George),
We're having a wonderful time in London. Lance was able to meet his family. They missed him just as much as he missed them and had tried finding him after he ran off after me. It seems his parents had enjoyed me as much as I adored them. But because Lance had run away he'd thought his family would have disowned him. He was a bit broken up about it all. He missed his parents funeral and his eldest brother and sister passed away a couple years ago. But the rest of the family has accepted us. We also got in contact with our son. He's supposed to bring his family here for a visit. Lance's younger sister says we should be careful since our winning Mega was more than likely broadcast. She says he might only want to bridge the gap because of that. Being that Lance's family has money we don't worry about them. But he is our son and it's hard to want to think that of him. I miss having you to talk to dear, you were always such a help in relieving stress. Lance has offered to pay for your ticket if you would like to come and visit us. You'd be more than welcome to stay. You should bring handsome George with you as well. You two are together by now correct? I do hope so since you two were always giving each other heated glances when you thought no one was looking.
Avery gasped, hand going over her mouth as she blushed. Across the pond and Kate was still making her blush. She couldn't believe Kate was saying this. She smiled though as she went back to reading.
Well, even if you aren't married yet. Soon. Now that you have my address I am expecting a letter in return. And of course that will have an acceptance of a ticket so you can visit us.
Sincerely,
Kate and Lance
Avery smiled and shook her head as she started to fold the paper again. "What'd they'd say?" Avery let out a yelp and jumped, turning to stare up at George a little wide eyed.
