New York. Queens. It's a rough borough, and now it's home. I didn't want to move here, but after Mom died, we picked up our lives and dad moved us here. Mom had always wanted to be buried in New York, back with her parents and childhood home, so I guess this is where we live now.
I drag another box into my new room, good lord there are so many of them uggghhhh. "Only a couple more," I remind myself. My dad calls my phone and i pick it up as I go down the hallway stairs.
"I met this boy, he's our upstairs neighbor and offered to help, you guys could be friends," he tells me. I inwardly groan: dad's always been keen on me socializing, and a boy is the last thing I want to talk about right now. Moving to Queens was hard, I've got enough on my plate already. Once I reach the bottom, I see a boy with curly brown hair talking to my dad. He turns toward me, looking at me with big, brown doe eyes and gives me a small wave. Wow he's really cute, god am I blushing, this is so embarrassing.
"H-hi, I'm Peter, Peter Parker," he stammers.
"Y/n," I smile shyly, "You want to help me with these boxes?" He nods and picks up two, jogging up the stairs, skipping a couple of steps. Meanwhile I can barely lift one as I trudge up to meet him. Once we reach the I fumble with the keys and we drop the boxes off in my room.
"Would you like me to help you unpack," he mutters shyly. I nod, a little over enthusiastically, and offer him a lemonade before we go to my room.
The walls are bare and white and the hardwood floor is only covered by a black bed in the corner of the room. My window leads out to the fire escape, and I have to say the view is gorgeous. We start unpacking my stuff, throwing colorful jewel-toned pillows onto the bed over my dark gray comforter. I laugh as Peter tells me about his life in Queens and his friend Ned. As he starts to open my box filled with pictures, I rearrange my desk.
"Umm, why do you have a picture of Spider-Man in here," he grins, and I swear he's faintly blushing.
