Creating an article and formatting it on WeHeartIt can be tricky. I've had to research the hell out of articles and other sources just to find out how the formatting works and so to make it easier for others, I've decided to write this article to help both you and myself. I hope you will find this as helpful as I do!
To write a heading or title: # Your title/heading
To make text bold: *Your Text Here*
To make text italic: _Your Text Here_
To add pictures: Copy & paste the image link into the article (image links can only be from WeHeartIt).
To create photo grids: Copy & paste an image link, enter to next line and repeat for however many images you want in the grid.
To stack photos instead grid-ing: Add WeHeartIt image link and leave a line between each link.
To add captions to images: After you've added the image, hit space (not enter) and write out your caption either above the link or next to it.
To add collections: Copy & paste the link to the collection and viola, it will be replaced with a preview!
To format text to quote:
> "Your quote here."
> – Your source here.
OR if you prefer it together (which I wouldn't recommend), you can simply keep your source with the quote.
To create lists:
. list item 1
. list item 2
OR
* list 1
* list 2
(.) Dots and (*) asterisks with 1 space between text will automatically format into a list. Ta-Da!
To add links:
Paste regular links into article and they will become clickable in the preview and when you publish.
#hashtags and @MentionAUser are converted into links automatically.
Also, links to articles and profiles are automatically replaced by previews.
To add emojis to articles:
There are SO many ways of adding emojis into your article, unfortunately WHI doesn't make it very simple. Here are some ways:
Type your article onto google docs from your phone with emojis, then just go to your google drive and open the doc from your laptop copy and paste article into the WHI article writing page, edit and viola!
OR do the same but instead of writing your article just type a bunch of emojis and use that doc to copy and paste emojis into article!
OR Go to google.com and google the emoji that you want to insert and copy & paste it
OR go to the symbols & emojis (copy & paste) article by TypicalGirl & copy and paste the emojis or symbols you want.
Personally, I don't like articles with symbols and emojis, unless done well they usually take away from the content of the article.
That's about it! I hope you found this helpful. Thank you for reading!
