I knew I would have to leave eventually, but I didn't think it would be before my 7th, and final, year at Hogwarts even started. But as I got off the plane in Seattle, I couldn't help but sigh in relief. I smiled when I saw my father, with his short curly brown hair and mustache, in his police officer uniform.
"Hi dad." I said, giving him a hug.
"Hey Bells." He said, returning it gladly. "I missed you."
"I missed you too."
We headed over to baggage claim, where I grabbed my Hogwarts trunk, which had an undetectable extension charm on it, along with a flip that made it "muggle-worthy", so that muggles wouldn't see anything out of the norm. Once we had grabbed my trunk, we headed out into the car.
"How's Draco?" My dad asked, and I almost burst into tears. About a month after Voldemort took over the ministry, my summon came. They were going to convict me because I was a muggleborn. My pureblood boyfriend, Draco Malfoy, who had also been forced into becoming a Death Eater, had helped me escape England. We "broke up" before the ministry take over, just to make it more believable that he had no idea where I was going. He told me that the war should be over by November, and he would come for me then. He said if he didn't come by November 1st, to move on, and find another boyfriend. I didn't want to, but he said it would be best for me, for my safety, incase I couldn't get to my wand in time.
"He's good, dad."
"Why do you seem so upset?"
"It's...complicated." I said, not really wanting to tell him that there was a war going on, and I was in danger. Draco had made me take self-defense classes, as well as all the martial arts, just to be safe. He also made me learn how to use, and carry, a gun. He had even conjured a concealed carry license for every single one of the 50 states.
"If you ever want to talk about it, I'm here." Dad said, knowing not to push me, I would just shut down.
"I know, dad. Thanks." I said, staring out the window, letting a silent tear slip down my cheek.
I smiled a bit as we pulled up to the two story house I had spent my holidays, up until the summer between third and fourth year, at. My mother wanted practically nothing to do with me after we found out I was a witch. She had decided to send me overseas, to Hogwarts, rather than to Ivelmorny, the wizarding school in America. It was a blessing and a curse, because, while I lost my mother, I met my best friends, Luna Lovegood and Ginny Weasley, both in the year behind me, and Draco, who was in my year. My dad, on the other hand, was ecstatic that I was a witch. Because of that, I spent most of my holidays with him. Dad grabbed my trunk out of the boot, then we headed into the house. I smiled at my bedroom with the light blue walls and purple bedding, with posters of my favorite quidditch players on the walls.
"I'll let you unpack. The Blacks are coming over later, though. To watch the game."
"Kay dad. Thanks." I said, using a simple spell to float my trunk over to the bed, then flipped the switch, and began to unpack. The first thing I grabbed was my radio, and tuned into Potterwatch. I had been listening every night, just to know who was missing, who had died, and to keep up with the news. I then began to unpack. My emergency bag was the next thing I grabbed, and placed it next to my desk. It had spare clothes, a toothbrush, books, medical supplies, and food and water, Incase I had to get out quickly. I then unpacked my Ravenclaw jersey and jacket, I had been a beater. I then grabbed Draco's slytherin jacket and jersey, he had given them to me before I left. He had also given me locket. I love this locket. It was simple, silver and oval shaped. On the front was an eagle. On the back was a snake. Inside was a picture of the two of us.
"I have a matching one." He said. "Tap the front of yours five times, and say 'trust', and I'll know, and I'll appear wherever you are. I love you."
I wanted to call him, so badly. I wanted to see him, to hold him. To kiss him one more time. But I knew better. I knew this locket was only for emergencies. Instead, I continued unpacking as I listened to Potterwatch.
Just as I had finished unpacking, I heard a car horn honk outside. I looked out the window to find Billy and Jacob Black, my dad's friend from the reservation, and his son. There were two trucks in the front yard, a brown one, and an old rusty red one.
"Hey Billy. Hey Jake." I said.
"You like your homecoming present?" My dad asked, patting the red truck.
"This?" I asked.
"Just bought it off Billy here." He said, a proud smile on his face.
"Thanks dad. It's perfect." I said, hugging him around the middle.
"I totally rebuilt the engine." Jake said, a proud smile on his face. Jake and I climbed into the truck.
"So you gotta double-pump the clutch when you shift, but you should be good to go." He said
"That's this one?" I asked, grabbing the clutch.
"Yea." He said, a small smile on his face.
"Do you want a ride to school?" I asked, before mentally facepalming. He goes to the reservation school.
"I go to school on the res." He said
"Right. Forgot." I said. "You've grown a lot since I last saw you."
"Yea, well that happens." He said
"Your hair got longer too. It's longer than mine now." I said, tucking a stray piece of his half-pony behind his ear.
The Blacks stayed for dinner, then headed off in their other truck to the reservation. I went upstairs, grabbed a quick shower, then put on Draco's quidditch jersey, a pair of sweatpants, then passed out, only to be woken up by my own screams.
