Crap!

I jumped out of bed and noticed that I had not set the clock's alarm to 7am, instead I set it to 8am which is the usual time I wake up at home! I guess I was too exhausted last night from my travel to remember to hang the time. But usually it is hard for me to wake up in the morning but it was so easy today because the alarm clock had the most abnoxious ring ever! It was like a duck quack while pots and pans fell on a stone floor at the same time. Shay, remind myself to buy a new alarm clock later.

I pushed the sky blue sheets to the side and dashed to the sink to wash my face, brush my teeth, and put lotion on. It was easy for me to get ready because I don't wear makeup. I have never worn makeup in my life because I feel like I will end up becoming a human cake with those layers of powder on me.

As soon as I was done washing up, I picked up the clothes off the sofa where I put them last night and slipped them both on while tying my hair up into a ponytail. I slipped on my cream white keds and grabbed my jean back pack and headed out the door.

I had to wait in the elevator which felt like an eternity with all my anxiousness bottled up. Great going Shayster, your first day of school and you're going to be late now!

Once the doors slid open, I took of sprinting to school. It was about a mile away and I knew the directions from the map that was layed on the glass table along with the welcome note.

I was panting and I could feel trickles of sweat coming down my forehead from the humidity. Good thing my backpack wasn't heavy, because I didn't have any books to put in them which I was VERY grateful right now.

Finally, I ran up the concrete stairs that led to the main entrance of the tall and stupendous building which read Sun Cove High on the sign above the glass doors. I walked inside to have a gush of fresh cold air greet me which was probably the best welcome right now. I didn't even bother with the I exterior design of the place due to my anxiousness to find the office. I had to ask them for my class schedule because I had no idea where and when to go to my different classes.

I turned to my left to find a small room with the word "Office" in black letters on a stained glass door and opened it to find a middle-aged woman with long brown hair look up at me with her red rimmed Ray Ban glasses.

"Hello, may I help you?" She smiled and I noticed her pearly white teeth.

"U-uh yes, I need my class schedule. I am a new student from Italy."

She nodded and looked at her mac laptop saying, "name?"

"Shay Rodgers" hurry please woman!

After scanning through she let out a "ah!" Which i'm guess meant that she had found me.

"You're the new girl who has free tuition for a year! I have to say so my self, outstanding job on your SAT and ACT scores dear. And here are your classes." She handed me a white piece of paper that had a grid like pattern on it where the top row was labeled "monday, tuesday, wednesday, etc. And underneath each day was my classes for that day along with the times on the way left side column.

"Have a good day dear and your first class which is English will be on your left, up the stairs to the 2nd floor and down to the first door on your right."

I nodded and folded it to put the piece of paper in my front backpack pocket. I waved bye and headed out the door following the exact same steps that she had instructed to me.

I walked up the 2 flights of stairs up to the level my class would be on and walked infront of the door until I was facing the dark wood door with a small rectangular window. on the side of the door there was a black label that had the number 201 on it. I re-tied my ponytail and let out a sigh.

Alright Shay, let's do this. Even though you're late, still be confident and just sit in an empty seat without causing attention.

I swung the door open with a vigorous yank because the door was lighter than I predicted. It made a 'BANG' sound when it hit the wall and I froze when I saw that all eyes were not to the teacher but instead, glued to me. Even the teacher had stopped his teaching to see who slammed the door.

I wish that time could freeze right now, or if I could have a button of life that could rewind! This is the worst way to start off my first day of school.

Way to go Shayster...

"Hey Shannon!!!" Yelled 3 girls in the back row.

Wait what?! Shannon? Who?
