I walked into the school and directly to the office to pick up my schedule. Freshman year was very important, and I was already nervous as hell. The guidance counselor was a sweet old lady with greying hair and a nametag reading "Shelley". I smiled, telling her my last name and recieving my packet of information. Pulling out the map, I traced my finger over the smooth paper, searching for English, my first class. Room 203 was on the second floor, so I started the hike up the stairs. Once there I pulled out the information and began looking through it. There was pamphlets on applying for scholarships and financial aid, a "Surviving College 101", and a packet regarding the local colleges and what courses they offered for seminars Brooklie didn't offer. The clanging of the bell awoke me from my dazed reading, and I shoved the folder into the back of my bag.
The teacher was a grumpy little old man named Mr. Ford. He dropped his books off on the desk and wrote his name on the board, proceeding to hand us all a textbook and a personalized workbook with a calligraphy pen. I smiled at the girl sitting beside me as she dropped her pen and I bent down to pick it up for her.
"Hi Lillian."
I hummed, handing her back her pen. She blushed a deep crimson and hid her face back behind her chocolatey brown locks. I began my work and before I knew it, it was time for next class, math. Math was my best subject and quickly that class was over too. Lunch arrived, and I went out onto the field to eat. I was alone, but I didn't mind. I would eat lunch on campus today, since I only had morning classes, and then have Derien pick me up for tea with my mother. I sat under a tree, smoothing my skirt under me and pulling my lunch bag out. Lillian was sitting about 100 yards away with her lunch bag, eating slowly and reading. She was a pretty girl, and I was determined to learn more about her. Walking over to her, I smiled as friendly as possible.
"May I sit with you?"
She just nodded, setting her book down and taking a bite of her salad. Her eyes were as piercing green as the lettuce and I was taken aback by how pink and fluffy her lips were. I had always been the pretty one, and here was this gorgeous girl, hiding her face and adorning her curves in tattered jeans and an old t-shirt. I had found my first project.
(a/n So this is even shorter than the first one, but I didn't want to take forever to upload. The next chapter is when the juicy stuff is gonna start ;))
