"Riley," Connor spoke as he made his way into his brothers room. His brother quickly put his pen and paper down and began to cover it as Connor came closer, "I finished it." He smiled.
"What?" Riley questioned.
"I told her I would finish it, and I did."
"Connor-" Riley began but Connor cut him off before he could say anything else.
"I've been writing to her, too. I kept telling her about this, hoping that one day she would want to hear it, but she never said anything." His voice trailed off.
"Has she replied to any of your letters?"
"Well... not yet, but I've only sent a few. Maybe she hasn't read them yet."
Riley let out a long and heavy sigh, not really knowing what to say. He felt like he needed to encourage his brother by saying that one day she would come around, but he didn't have the strength to lie to his brother. Finally he spoke up, "Well can I hear it?"
"No.." He quietly said as he shook his head, "No, I want her to be the first to hear it. Even if I have to wait. I don't care." And with that, Connor brought himself to walk out of Riley's room, leaving Riley all by himself to pull himself together and figure out how he was going to tell Connor the truth, no matter how difficult it would be.
