Alli's POV

The First Day part 1

I ran through a dimly lit forest. I'm not sure what I'm running from but it sure is big. Adrenaline coursed through my body as I ran and ran and ran. Branches clawed at my face and arms as I ran. Sweat started to tickle down my face. Then I heard this laugh. This horrible laugh. It sent chills down my back. It's like nails on a chalkboard. I soon felt a hot breath on my neck. I'm too afraid to look over my shoulder. I might see a zombie or a monster or worst. My mom when she's mad.

I saw a faint light shining brighter than the eerie light that seems to glow off the trees and rocks. I ran faster towards the light. Once I emerged from the forest, I entered this clearing. The grass was wet. I looked down and tried to stifle a scream of horror. Fear's icy claws clenched my stomach and I felt slimy inside because the grass below me is soaked in...blood. I looked around when I heard a dripping sound. My eyes widened in surprise when I saw the forest and the clearing start to melt. That's right I said melt. A scream of sheer terror escaped my mouth when the ground starting to crumble beneath my feet. I feel my fall...and fall...and fall.

I sit straight up in my bed. I look around in panic. Sighing in relief, I get my iPhone off the dresser and check the time. 1:00 AM. I groan. My new school starts at 7:00. So, that's means I have to wake up at 5:00...

I groan again, unlock my phone, tap the phone app, and tap on my best friend's name. The phone rings two times until I hear an achingly familiar voice on the other line. "Alli?"

I smile, "Yes, Jenny."

"Isn't it, like, 1 over there." she inquires.

I sigh. "Yes..." then I realize something. "Isn't it 4 over there? Shouldn't you be asleep?"

I hear her giggle. "I don't have to go back until next week. Don't you go back tomorrow, technically today?"

"Yes..." I trail off.

"What's wrong?" her voice dripping with concern. This is why she's my best friend. She can always sense when there is something wrong with me and she will always listen when I have something to tell her.

"I had a bizarre dream..." I stammer.

"What was it about?" She asks.

I explain the dream. "Well, that's it." I finish.

A few minutes of silence pass before Jenny breaks it. "Do you want to talk about?"

I sigh. "Not really..."

She says. "Okay, topic change. Have you met any hot boys yet?"

I laugh softly. "Not yet."

We continue to talk for a half hour. I yawn broadly. "Someone's sounds sleepy," she murmurs sarcastically, yawning as well.

"Yeah," I agree. "Well, I better get back to bed."

"Yeah, good night, Alli."

"Good night, Jenny." Then we hang up.

I set my phone down, then set my head back my pillow and sigh. What is it going to be like? At a new school? This is the first time I've ever moved! I was born and raised in Ohio I guess you could say. The main reason I moved is because my dad got a better job offer with better money and such. I didn't want to move/ Leave all my friends I've known since kindergarden and pre-school and my crush... Yes, I had crush. A pretty big one too... Anyways, I guess I better go back to sleep.
