I drag my feet towards double doors with a striking sign above, an exit I hope. I do not wish to be in this facility while the one oddly attractive person (possibly a nerd) does not wish to speak to me. A soft breeze kisses my skin once I step outside I close my eyes easing my pace further into the evening air. I open my eyes to be greeted by a botanic garden illuminated by bricks that cover the edges of the garden to create a pave way. I lean down to my feet to set them from free the confinement of my pair of sneakers that I have had on since I stepped foot on this godforsaken place. 'Just what I needed.' I confess to no one in sight pulling off my black knit socks with a white lace trim, and discard them onto the slightly damp grass. The moonlight shines onto a nearby reflective object, somehow I find myself getting onto my hands and knees to trail after the object I could hear some rustling as I near the object.I pause my heart beat picks up I turn back to look at the exit to calculate the estimated time needed to escape should there be any possible danger, can't be to careful now can we? I always feel like these people out to get me and what if this is the day? I flood my mind with endless outcomes of this whole dilemma yet continue my mission.
A faint chuckle comes from the direction of the object that turns out to be a screen of some device. I squint my eyes to make out the device, but no avail I breathe out simultaneously crawling closer to my destination. I add a bit of speed when I can clearly hear some stifled chuckles from behind the device, however I step over a pebble with my right hand resulting in pain shooting up my palm and down to the nerves in my middle finger I curse out a bit louder than I anticipated. 'Oh shit!' I respond when a bright light blinds my eyes and I try to move faster than my body can fully register the message, ending in my injured hand to twist away from the direction the rest of the body is headed. A snap plus a bolt of pain shoots up to my heart causing me to fall onto the ground in defeat, 'tell my family that I love them but they shouldn't dare to touch my stuff or I will haunt them!' I cry out as the mysterious figure hovers me.
'Here, let me help you out it can't be that bad.' A soft voice rings above me but I shake my head in response. However, the stranger crunches down to slip his hands under my upper body pulling me up from the ground and walks to a nearby blanket before he settles me down making sure to not bump my injured hand. A flick of a switch is heard before fluorescent light distracts my vision for a second causing me to try to sit up to shy away from the light, but a firm commanding voice causes me to stay glued to the position I am in, for some odd reason I feel tingles rushing down my body. Shouldn't I be frightened? He carefully picks my hand and whispers an apology when I wheeze in pain I glance up to him and gasp in shock. 'Yes, Starelen I know it's you.' He confirms as he massages a cold liquid onto my skin that quickly heats up I bite down my lower lip to stop the moan of pain from escaping. 'Are you stalking me missy?' He taunts as he wraps my hand with a band aid that tightens around my wrist yet it minimises the pain and he places my hand on the ground and looks into my eyes before moving over to the opposite side of the light. No words are spoken only the sound of crickets, an owl together with the rustling of trees fill the air. I pick on the grass close to the blanket 'what do I do now?' I question thinking of possible outcomes for this situation yet none please me I believe it is okay to simply talk it out and see what happens after that? I mean what else do I have to lose?
'Why won't you speak to me? More importantly why did you react the way you did earlier in the cafeteria? I think it was a bit uncalled for and I deserve an explanation of some sort.' I question breaking the comfortable silence before shifting into a crossed legged pose. 'I don't owe you anything missy if anything you owe me one for this irrational behaviour you seem to have displayed in the encounters we have had in the last 48 hours.' He states with a hint of cockiness in his tone I kiss my teeth before getting up from the plush blanket, 'look I just wanted to get to know you because I think you may be interesting and yes my approach was a bit much but it doesn't give you the right to act like a twat ok? Now if you will excuse me I have to go somewhere far away from you before I lose it.' I spat and make my way back to the cafeteria. 'Starelen!' I freeze in my spot the way he called my name forces me to submit and wait for him to address me in a manner a teacher would to disciple an unruly student. 'No one and I mean no one speaks to me in the way you did, I apologise but will not accept being spoken to with such disrespect do I make myself clear?' He leans down lowering his voice laced in agitation yet his eyes have hint of intrigue and confusion I find myself nodding to every word.
We stay in the same position, staring into each other's eyes as if in a silly staring contest and neither of us prepared to accept defeat (he will lose this one) the door creaks open and we both place our attention on a oddly thin coco skinned boy with a cigarette limply placed in his full lips, he swiftly turns around going back inside the building. 'Look, we can have coffee in the morning but in the meantime you should go on and rest you need it missy.' He sternly says whilst he walks past me to hold the door open I look back at him with my mouth slightly open and my forehead creased. 'Come now missy.' I shake my head before I head towards Timothy he follows my lead on my way to my room keeping an arm length distance, this makes me wonder the reasons behind his actions? Why is he being considerate? Perhaps he is a psychopathic killer or worse a rapist? Oh jeez. 'This is me, I will see you tomorrow morning.' I stop at a dorm room three doors before mine Timothy stands before me at the same distance with hands in his black faded denim jacket. 'Well, aren't you going to go in? I would hate to know you are not safe and sound.' He says while walking closer with every word and I gulp reaching for the door knob. 'That's not necessary I mean I appreciate the concern but I will be fine.' I casually brush off my nerves and he looks down at me with a sly smile before leaning in 'Missy I know you are lying.' I gape to meet his violet eyes darkened with mischief and an emotion I can not read. 'See you at 9am, try not to be late because I will not be pleased.' He declares that over his shoulder walking away I watch him disappear around the corner before I dash for my dorm room and find that the door isn't locked, just my luck?
What an expected turn of events, how is it possible that the shy guy I met two days ago is so sly? Maybe he has a diabolical twin? An overly healthy amount of theories rush through my brain as I lie awake on my single bed in the dark with my lovely roommate mumbling nonsense in her sleep.
IT IS NOT PERFECT BUT I JUST NEED TO POST THE DAMN THING I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO MAKE THIS DIFFERENT AND TYPICAL SO I WILL BE EDITING IT AGAIN BUT FOR NOW ENJOY THIS HEHE!!!
