It had been a long day, I was extremely tired and looking forward to bed. Which was weird as I had a good sleep the night before and a fairly peaceful day. I turned on my phone for a second to send a good night message to Victoria, my girlfriend. I left it on for a few moments and went on tumblr to pass time in hopes that she would respond. I had the weirdest feeling that I should really talk to her. Even though she was not responding, I sent a second message letting her know how I felt. I had told her before, but it felt important tonight.
I turned off my phone and lay down in bed. I was I my boxers that I had just gotten out of the dryer so they were still warm. It was hot out so I did not have blankets on. The window was open and the warm ocean breeze was coming in. It was nice, but as I fell asleep I grew uneasy.
I woke up and was shocked how cold I was. As I reached for my bed dude lamp with my eyes still closed, I found only open air. I opened my eyes and found I was not in my room. My bed was floating in the middle of the ocean. The water seemed to be a dark crimson, and after a second I realized it was blood. I started to panic in the middle of that most covered sea before realizing it was only a dream and that everything would be ok. No sooner had that thought entered my head than I felt a sharp pain in my head. Not like a headache which us common. But it was more of a burning agony that was surely attacking every brain cell in my head.
I sat up, trying and failing to ignore the pain in my head. I lifted my right hand to my head to cup it and was horrified to see the sight that was my hand spewing blood like a faucet. I started to panic and screamed as I fell over into the crimson red blood. As I cried for help it filled my mouth with the metallic taste of iron and the salty taste of sodium in the blood stream. It filled my eye sight and tinted the world the same sickly shade of red as the thick liquid coming from my hand. I wiped my eyes as best as I could, but immediately regretted doing so. In the distant grey fog, figures were rush g out of the blood. Limp bodies stood up on the surface. They raised there arms ( or in some cases where there where no arms they did not) and started coming toward me. I looked in all directions hoping for escape, but I was surrounded. They started chanting, over and over they repeated " play the game, play the game". As they were about ten feet from me, children like them appeared filling the gaps between them. They chanted too, But instead they simply repeated " plaaaaaaaaay wiiiiiiiiith meeeeeee". I started to scream as I treaded water to stay afloat, but found my mouth filled to the brim with blood. Out of what had once seemed to be nothing, I heard a voice. It sounded joking and playful but sick and slurred at the same time. All it said, was " time to play."
I woke up screaming. At first all I saw was darkness, and was ready to cry with relief. But then the darkness lifted and I was on my bed, in a sea if crimson blood. In the distance the figures came to me, and as I screamed in fear and pain from the headache, I heard the voice say " time to play, this will be fun".
