Ariadne and Grover both paled knowing what was coming next

We sped through the night along dusty country roads. Wind and rainpelted the car like a pistol. I don't know how the hell my mom couldsee, but she kept her foot on the gas.

"Yeah! I like your pick in women P." Apollo said grinning like amadman. Artemis rolled her eyes and shot an arrow at her twin.

If only she would drive like thisall the time...

At every flash of lightning, I glanced at Grover, staring at his furrylegs. He smelled like shit.

"Thanks Ari." Grover said sarcastically. Ariadne just nodded in hisdirection

"So. You have a lot of explaining to do, yeah?" I asked, not cussingfor the sake of my mom.

Grover looked a little nervously at me, and then anxiously at thewindow.

"Yeah... I guess so. But that can wait," He replied.

"So mom, did you know Grover was a satyr?" I said, surprising evenmy mom with my quickness; she has so much faith in me.

"Uh, yes, I was told that you'd be watched," my mom told me.I just hummed in reply.

"Sounds like a stalker if you ask me." Thalia whispered loudly intoNico's ear.

He nodded and Grover bleated "Blaa-ha-ha! It was myjob!"

All of a sudden, the weird tortured noise came up again, but thistime, it was closer.

"Shit! That thing is after us! What the hell are we supposed to do!?We can't outrun that shithead!" I yelled, ignoring my moms half scolding, half-horrified look.

"Smooth Ari." "Shut up Valdez!"

"Ariadne!" She scolded. "Watch your language! We'll get there... wehave to..." She said that last part under her breath.

I had the decency to look sheepish.

"What's after us anyways? Ican't get a good look at it through all this fuc-stupid rain!"

"Oh, nobody much," Grover said casually. "Just the Lord of the Deadand a few of his blood-thirstiest minions."

"Grover!"

"Yeah ok Grover! Just say I'm gonna die like it's the FUCKINGweather!

"Grover! Are you trying to scare her?!" My mom squeaked, soundingscared herself. Like I'm scared of anything...

"Sorry, Mrs. Jackson. Could you drive a little faster, please?"

I was trying to figure out what was following us. I've only caught tinyglimpses from the blinding lightning and what I've seen so far, welllet's just say it ain't pretty.

My mom swerved left, making me ram into the door. I grunted butdidn't complain. We came into a more secluded area with narrowerroads and more woods and past a PICK YOUR OWNSTRAWBERRIES sign on white picket fences. Sounds sketchy if youask me...

"Yum strawberries!" Demeter and Katie said while their eyesglazed over.

"So this summer camp is in a strawberry field? That's stupid. If youwant to repel attention, why make it a sign that invites you to thecamp?" I asked, once again seeing the surprised look of my momand the awed look of Grover.

"The best summer camp!" All the Greeks sang.

"Hey what aboutCamp Jupiter?" Asked Frank.

"Camp Jup. is more of a city. CampHalf-Blood is more of a summer camp." Ariadne explained while Jasonnodded in agreement
