As they walk out the door, Ji-Yeon keeps her eyes on focused on her house next door. "Ji-Yeon, stop looking over there. Don't worry they won't recognize us." Hyung Sik says to reassure her. Ji-Yeon slowly nods and hesitantly looks forward. As they walk to the market, Ji-Yeon noticed that Hyung Sik still had his arm around her shoulder. She didn't protest or complain. How could she after everything he's done for her so far? "Do you remember when you told me that this isn't a drama?" Hyung Sik says, breaking the silence between them. "Yes? Why?" she answers. "Life sure does feel like a drama right now." He laughs. She laughs a little too as she realizes how true that is.
When they finally arrive to the marketplace, Hyung Sik finally removes his arm from Ji-Yeon's shoulder. "Okay. Where do we start?" He asks himself. Ji-Yeon just looks around. "Is there a certain shop you like?" He asks her. She shook her head. "...Ani. I've only ever worn the uniform and maybe like two other outfits. My parents would buy the clothes." She says. Hyung Sik looks around the marketplace and leads her to a clothing store. "Okay. So today you pick out whatever you want. And I'll pick out some stuff too. Shall we start with the essentials?" He says. Ji-Yeon raises an eyebrow, "Essentials?" Hyung Sik nods, "Your essentials. Bras, underwear, socks, pajamas, and other stuff you may need." Ji-Yeon goes wide eyed. "I'll do that part. You can start shopping for t-shirts and stuff. Do you need my size?" She says. "Ani. I already know your size. I'll go over there. Meet me when you're done." He says then walks away.
Ji-Yeon starts looking around for her "essentials". She finds some nice ones and some regular ones. All for certain times. When she finishes, she starts looking around for Hyung Sik. While she was looking around, she accidently bumped into someone. "Mianhaeyo." She says as she bows deeply. "Yah, you should watch where you're going." The lady says to her. "Ne.. Mianhaeyo.." she bows again. "You look young. Where are your parents? Shouldn't you be in school?" The lady questions. "Uh... I-..." She stutters.
"She's my wife. We already graduated." Someone answers from behind. It was Hyung Sik. "You look awfully young too." The lady says to him. "We take care of our skin. You should try it." He says. The woman scoffs. "We'll be leaving first." He says, wrapping his arm around Ji-Yeon's waist. She quietly winces as her injuries are still tender. "Wait." The woman calls to them. "I apologize for being so rude. I woke up this morning and my daughter was gone. You just remind me of her." She says. Ji-Yeon looks at Hyung Sik, whose eyes went narrow.
"You were rude to her because she reminded you of your daughter? You should've been more kind to her because of that. Unless you're rude to your daughter as well. In that case, I think I know why she's gone." He says to her, coldly. He then leads Ji-Yeon to another part of the store. "Hyung Sik, that was my mother." She says to him. "Ara. That's why I was like that to her. Now, let's finish looking for clothes and get out of here." He answers.
He showed her what he picked out and she, luckily, liked them. She picked out a few pairs of jeans and pants, some nice dress shirts and a couple of dresses. "I feel weird having you buy all of this for me." She tells him as they wait at the register. "Don't worry about it." He answers. Ji-Yeon sighs as she knows there's no point to protest.
As the cashier was scanning the items, Hyung Sik looked at everything she bought. He noticed the nice undergarments she picked out. He nudges her lightly and she looks at him confused. He gave her a cheeky smile and looks over to the clothes. She follows his gaze and sees the undergarments. "Who do you plan to wear those for?" He asks with a grin on his face. Her eyes go wide at his remark. "Yah, I just bought them because they looked nice. I'm not gonna wear them to show anyone." She explains. "We'll see." He says. She looked at him surprised and she covered her face as she was blushing from embarrassment.
"You two are so cute. How long have you been married?" The cashier asks. "We're newlyweds." Hyung Sik answers quickly. "Huh?" Ji-Yeon responds. "Ah that explains why she's so shy. I wish you two the best." The cashier says as she finishes checking them out. Hyung Sik pays as Ji-Yeon carries the bags, and they leave. "Here, let me take the bags for you." He says, taking the bags from her. "Yah, married?!" She asks. He nods. "It's so no one suspects us. Don't worry about it. No one ever remembers things like this anyway." He says.
After walking for a bit, Ji-Yeon feels her stomach rumble. "You want some food?" Hyung Sik asks. "Ne~ It's like you read my mind." She answers. They walk to a nearby restaurant. "Annyeonghaseyo~" Hyung Sik greets as he walks in. "Hyung Sik-ssi!" The lady who works there says. "Auntie!" He says, giving her a hug. "You cane with a friend this time! Yeojachingu?" She asks, almost hopeful for a yes. "Aniyo, we're just friends. Auntie, this is Park Ji Yeon." He introduces her. Ji-Yeon bows politely and says, "Annyeonghaseyo~". "Ye~ Jinjja Yeppunda. Hyung Sik-ah, you would do well with her as a girlfriend." She smiles. "Auntie~" He says, embarrassed.
"Come, sit down. What do you want to eat today?" She asks as she sat them at a table. "Hmm.. Ji-Yeon?" He refers to her. "Hmmm.. Tteokbeokki(spicy rice cakes), rice, samgyeopsal (pork belly), kimchi jjigae (kimchi soup), bulgogi, bibimbop, and Yaki Mandu." She answers. "Wah~" Hyung Sik says. "She eats well! I'll get you two orders of each for you too Hyung Sik." The lady says then leaves to the kitchen. "Yah, when did you eat so much?" He asks, confused and astonished. "I always eat as much as I can." She answers. Hyung Sik remembered her home condition and assumed that she didn't get fed at home.
When the food came out, she started eating. She didn't hesitate and she wasn't embarrassed. Before Hyung Sik knew it, Ji Yeon was finished. "Yah, if you keep eating like that, your stomach will hurt." he says to her. When he finally finished his food, Ji-Yeon was tired. "Can we go home now?" She asked. "Wae? Are you tired already?" He responds. She nods. "Okay, we'll go home and take a nap." He says to her. She smiles and gets up. Hyung Sik pays and they walk back home.
"Last night... Where did you sleep?" Ji-Yeon asks suddenly. "In a spare room. Why?" He answers coolly. "Just asking because you put me in your room." She answers. "Honestly, I didn't even sleep." He says. Ji-Yeon turns her head to him. "Wae?" she asks. "Well, between buying you clothes and make up for this morning and worrying about you, I didn't have time." He answers. "...You worried about me?" She asks, stopping in her tracks. Hyung Sik keeps walking. "Noo. Yes, I did. I just said that." He says. Ji-Yeon furrows her eyebrows and jogs a little to catch up. "Yah, I didn't need your sarcasm." She says, walking next to him. "Hmm.. Oh well." He grins. Ji-Yeon scoffs with a small grin on her face.
They arrive at Hyung Sik's home. "Finally! It always feels longer on the way back." Ji Yeon says. Hyung Sik opens the door and grabs her hand to lead her in. He closes the door behind her, drops the bags he was carrying and pins her to the door facing him. Surprised, her breathing becomes irregular and her heart beats fast.
"Who are you?" He says, face close to hers. "What?" Ji-Yeon asks quietly. "Who are you to make me feel this way so quickly?" He says. "Feel what?" She asks, still confused. Hyung Sik stares into her eyes. He backs away, breaking eye contact. "Nevermind... You should go take your nap. You can use my bed again." He says, then walks away to the spare room. Ji-Yeon just looks at him walk away, speechless. "What is with him?" she says in her mind. She picks up the bags and walks to his room.
She lets out a sigh as she plops on the bed. "Aniya... I won't think about it." she shakes her head. She turns to her side and drifts off to sleep in no time.
