Ji-Yeon woke up a few hours later. Her mind immediately thought of Hyung Sik. The way he acted when they came back home still lingered in her mind. "It's probably nothing," she thought as she shook her head to stop thinking about it.

She got out of bed and walked out of the room. She looked around for Hyung Sik, but couldn't find him anywhere. She checked the kitchen, backyard, spare rooms, bathrooms. No Hyung Sik. "Did he leave?" She said to herself as she stood in the hallway. She suddenly heard the door open and close. She quickly went to the front door. He wasn't there. She heard rustling from the kitchen and quickly went to check.

"Oh good. You're awake!" Hyung Sik says, as he sees her walk in. "Where did you go?" She asked timidly, as she wasn't sure how to act. "Well, while you were asleep, I figured I would go grocery shopping." He says, taking groceries out of the bags.

He took out a little cup and spoon from a separate bag and walked over to Ji Yeon. "I wasn't sure what flavor you liked, so I got you vanilla." He says, handing her the cup and spoon. "What is this?" She asked, taking the cup and spoon from his hands. "It's a little something to say I'm sorry about earlier. I don't know what came over me and I shouldn't have approached you like that. Especially when I know what you've just been through." He says, sincerely. "Thank you. And it's okay, I accept your apology..." She says, with a small smile. Hyung Sik smiles widely. "I figured we can eat some ice cream, cook up some dinner, and watch a few movies. Does that sound good?" He says, a little excited. Ji Yeon smiles widely. "That sounds great." She replies.

TIME SKIP

The next day, they both woke up on the couch. "Did we really sleep on the couch last night?" Ji Yeon asks as she stretches and looks around. Hyung Sik sits up and stretches too. "I guess so. We probably fell asleep during one of the movies." He says, scratching his head. He then looks at his phone. "It's almost time for school..." He says. Ji Yeon looks at him with worried eyes. "We don't have to go, if you don't want to." He reassures her. "Thanks... But I think we should go. Our grades and future shouldn't be affected because of me." She says with a sigh. "I'm okay with my grades being affected." He says, almost jokingly. She grins. "I appreciate your sentiment but we should still go." She replies. "If you want to, then we'll go." He says before standing up. Ji Yeon stands up and they both go to get dressed.

"Hyung Sik...." She says, as she looked around the room. "Yeah?" He says. "I don't have my backpack.... Or my books..." She says, her voice shaking a little out of fear. She turned to him with wide eyes and a pale face. He stood there silent for a bit. "I think I have an idea." He says, narrowing his eyes. "What idea?" Ji Yeon asks.

Hyung Sik walks over to Ji Yeon's Parents' house, while Ji Yeon stands by the gate awaiting for his signal.

Hyung Sik rings the doorbell, phone in hand.

He waits for a minute then rings the doorbell again.

Again, no answer.

He furrows his eyebrows in confusion. "Are they not home?" He asks himself.

He rings the doorbell one last time and waits for it open.

Nothing.

After no sign of them being home, he rushes over to where Ji Yeon is. "What's going on? You never gave me the signal." She says, confused. "I don't think they're home. No one answered the door." He replied. She furrows her eyebrows. "Father must have left for work and Mother is probably out shopping or something." She says, remembering her parent's daily routine.

"Are you sure the back door is open? What if they locked it?" Hyung Sik asks as they sneak into Ji Yeon's backyard. "They usually don't lock it. They keep it open.... It's easier to throw me out that way..." She says sadly. Hyung Sik shakes his head in disappointment.

As they approached the back door, Ji Yeon takes a deep breath before placing her hand on the doorknob. As she expected, when she turned the knob, it was unlocked. They both quietly walk inside the house.

"Do you know where your backpack is?" Hyung Sik asks. She looked down, trying to think of where it would be. "Well, I had it with me when my father called me into his room when I got home. I must've dropped it there when everything happened..." She says, quietly. "So it's in your parent's room?" Hyung Sik asks. Ji yeon shakes her head. "No. They wouldn't have left it there." She answers. "Then where would it be?" He asks, needing clarification.

Ji Yeon walks over to small room. The door to the room was broken and dirty. It's as if it was the door to an abandoned outdoor shed.... Only it was inside a home. There was writing on the door. The words "Rat" and "Pig" written in permanent marker across the door. Hyung Sik read the words. He felt both angry and sorry for Ji Yeon.

Ji Yeon opened the door to reveal a small room. The room was just as sad as the door. There was a few flattened cardboard boxes layed out on one side of the room. Hyung Sik assumed that's where she slept. On it was a thin bed sheet that was nicely folded on top.

On the other side of the room was an open cardboard box. It was only filled halfway with clothes and a pair on shoes on top. Ji Yeon's backpack was on the floor in the middle of the room, her books scattered across the floor.

"What is this room?" Hyung Sik asked, worried about the answer she would give. "It's.... My room..." She said, sadly. She kneeled down on the floor to pick up her backpack and books. Hyung Sik kneeled down to help her. "You slept here?" He asks. She nodded. "For how long?" She looked up at him, but immediately broke eye contact. "For as long as I can remember. My whole life I guess." She said as she stood up. "Let's get out of here before one of them comes back. We don't want to be late to school too." She says, putting her hand out for him to take. Hyung Sik looks up at her, then looks at her hand. He takes it and she helps him stand up.

They walk to school in a hurry so they won't be late. When they arrive, the main hallway was much more packed than usual. People stared at them and whispered as they walked past. Ji Yeon walked with her head down. She tried to hide her face in fear that people still noticed her bruises. "Just breathe, Ji Yeon. Everything is going to be okay." He whispered to her.

"JI YEON?" A voice shouted as they walked past a group of people standing by the administration office.
Ji Yeon stopped in her tracks, recognizing that horrid voice that called her name.
