To be honest, Angels aren't perfect. We make mistakes, too. So it's safe to say that not everyday is supposed to be perfect.

Well, except today.

Because no matter what happens, today has to be perfect. And not just perfect, better than perfect.

Thinking about this twice, I opened my eyes. Colors of gold, white, and all the shades in-between filled my vision. I was standing in front a large gold building. School. Gold Gates Academy. Opening the glass doors, I walked in the building to see a surprise. Looking in all directions I smiled. The school was decorated, from top to bottom. Looking more beautiful than ever.

Wow, everyone must have put in a lot of work in all this. I couldn't stop grinning, well, until I saw the pictures at the end of the hall. Different paintings of Heaven beating Hell in wars and battles. The last painting was the one that got my attention.

It was a picture of a man standing with a gold scepter, a emerald placed right on the top. He was smiling, pride in his faded blue eyes, but what really caught my eyes was the silver chain around his neck. A black key linked in it.

I stood there staring, thinking of reasons a man that looks really rich would have a key as a necklace. Maybe he's protective of his pets and doesn't want them to escape from their pet house? Or maybe not...

Come on, stop wasting time here. Get to class. I ran down the halls, and just in time I opened the door. Different pairs of eyes glared at my direction. Oh no, guess I'm late. Well, I said angels aren't always perfect.

"Virgo, glad you could make it. Didn't want you missing out." A low voice said. I looked at the front of the room shocked. Because our teacher  wasn't even a teacher. It was our principal. Professor Orion.

Just as I took a seat, the lights started to dim. Professor Orion's fingertip glowed bright blue. He pointed it to the white board in front of the room. It disappeared and was replaced by bright blue dust that was calmly floating in front of us.

"200 years ago, Heaven and Hell walked into the most deadliest battle of all time." The blue dust started to move and form a picture of demons and angels battling.

"And for 200 years you've have been told that Heaven has won because we are stronger, braver, and more clever." He paused before looking directly at me. "These things might be true, but the real reason, the reason that was kept from you all is much more deeper than this."

The blue dust changed into different colors and a picture of a man appeared. He was laying down on the ground, a sword stuck right through his body. A gold crown falling off his head. My eyes widened, because it was a face I didn't want to think about.

It was the same man from the painting.

"Long ago, an agreement was made. An agreement that saved us. When the war had started to occur, the king at the time had done what any king would have done, and that is, protect his people. He sacrificed his life for Heaven and it's future, by showing one simple act of love."

Wait that was the king? What was the agreement? I looked at him, waiting for my questions to be answered. He looked around the room as if he was gonna say more, but all he spoke was,

"Right as the king died, a barrier was made. A barrier that was made out of his soul. A barrier that protects Heaven from Hell. A barrier that wasn't supposed to be in the deal. And now for the past 200 years Hell has tried breaking the barrier, but failing  faster every time. And now you must follow his legacy. Showing love and compassion for everyone. Just as he did." Just as he finished the bell rang.

After everyone had went out the classroom. I walked towards the magical dust that was still there. The picture looking so real, as if it had just happened in front of me. Slowly the dust faded.

Every year they tell the story about the Great War. About how we won. About how strong we were. About how we defeat the demons by being smarter. But now I didn't know what was true anymore. Why would the teachers lie to us. Why would they keep the truth a secret?

Unless, there was something bigger. Something that connects all of this.

Questions whirled in my head like a tornado. I turned around at Professor Orion who was at his desk. And most importantly, why did Professor Orion, our principal decided to teach class today?

He saw me and walked up to me, "Some how I knew you'd stay." He let out a warm smile. "Professor, this doesn't make sense-" He cut me off.

"Virgo, a lot of things don't make sense in the beginning, but when time comes all your questions will be answered." I opened my mouth to say something. Wanting to complain about leaving all the important details out, but my mouth stayed shut.

"Come on now, you must go where you are needed." His soft brown eyes gleamed as he led me out the classroom. He was right nothing made sense. Like all of a sudden they start telling a new story of how the Great War ended. Far as I know this might not even be the correct story.

I wanted to march right in, and demand to know the full truth, but instead I started to walk away. Walk where I was needed. Because Professor Orion had spoke just enough for me to understand one thing.

This was just the beginning.
