[TOXIC PARENTING MEETS KARMA]
or, alternatively:
[KARMA ES UNA PERRA]

Completely disorientated by his ability, she surveyed the area she was in. There were cameras with minuscule green lights — they were filming. She was in a waiting room for the bank. There were chairs and a coffee table and bankers behind floor-to-ceiling glass, watching the terrified girl in still horror.

She must have looked utterly insane if they hadn't seen Fernando.

Mari forgot herself and addressed Natasha, "He disappeared. Did you call the cops?"

"Of course, but you're not supposed to talk to me," she warned. "Worry about him. Remember what I told you: take it, but always stand back up."

Natasha quieted and Mari remembered where she was.

"Alright, Fernie, are you going to hide forever? You a coward?"

She was pushed to the ground and invisible hands wrapped around her throat. He appeared above her.

"Don't call me that!"

She writhed.

"You are one," she choked. He stood and she got up, slowly, breathing in hard air. "Only cowards attack others. Only cowards use their actions above their words."

"Perra," he hissed. She didn't flinch when he went to punch her in the jaw. She simply pulled up her forearms and blocked him.

Control it.

"How did you trick Louis?" she asked. "Did you fuck with his head too? Like Nina?"

"No, I just convinced them that your mother was a destroyer and I was a builder of family."

"Bullshit."

He vanished.

She put her hands out, trying to get a grip on the situation. "How did you do it?"

"I drugged them, okay?"

He punched her stomach twice, both of which she failed to block. He appeared a few feet away.

She could strangle him. She could poison him.

Control it, she commanded herself.

"You are a disgusting excuse of a human being," she declared, approaching him.

She began to shift into Bruce, who turned a little green in the hands. Fern backed up against a glass wall.

"The World is watching you, Mari. Do not be a fool or a coward. Control it, Mari."

Bruce wrapped a hand around Fernando's throat and he whined. He hadn't induced any pain, only pinned him against the wall.
