I soon got to the section of the library where they had the Divergent series. As I was walking through I found what I was looking for. I couldn't help but smile when I saw 'Insurgent'. I grabbed it off the shelf, looked it over and saw the back.

  "A choice becomes a sacrifice"

  "A sacrifice becomes a loss"

  "A loss becomes a burden"

  "A burden becomes a battle"

All I could think while reading this was 'Oh my gosh, this book is going to be so good.' I smiled and hugged the book to my chest. I was about to leave before I noticed 'Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire" I picked it up and looked it over. 'Don't do it' My mind told me, 'You have plenty of books to read at home.' "But it's Harry Potter" I said out loud. I sold out. As I started to walk toward the front desk, I heard a strange scooting noise.

I turned around and curiously looked around to see where the noise was coming from. I looked up and found the source of the noise. It was a book, slowly getting pushed out from the other end.

"What the-" The book seemed to find the perfect place to fall was right on my face. And let me tell you, getting hit in the face with a hardcover, 600 paged book is no fun. "OW!" I yelled. Stumbling backward and falling down because of the blow.

"SORRY!" I heard someone yell, definitely male, I'm not sure why that mattered to me. "Oh my gosh I'm so sorry! I pushed the book back too far and it knocked down the one behind it and it happened to fall right where your face was and oh my gosh I'm so sorry!"

"Its fine" I said rubbing my nose. I looked up to find a brown haired boy that looked my age with an expression I couldn't quite read. Some sort of cross between fear and concern. His hazel eyes shining in the dimly lit light above us. But there was something different about his eyes, how they only stayed in one place. He was also wearing a hoodie with sleeves so long, they covered his hands. He offered me his hand but I quickly got up on my own.

"Are sure your all right though?" He asked. I was starting to realize how attractive he was now. I quickly pushed the thought out of my mind.

"Like I just said, I'm fine." I said crossing my arms.

"Good." He said. "I'm Jacob, sorry for hitting you in the face." He said smiling.

"I'm Carina" I say "I'm sorry you hit me in the face too." Jacob scratched his head. "You know, I want to blame it on my eyes but.." I finally realized why his eyes looked like that. "Oh, is your, oh sorry, I mean-" I felt my face heat up. "Yeah, I'm blind," He said awkwardly,"But its okay. You don't have to feel bad for me."

I wanted to tell him I didn't, but before I could say anything he felt where the authors initials were carved into the wood of the bookshelf and his entire face lit up. "Are you reading Harry Potter?!" He asked excitingly.

This takes me by surprise, I totally forgot the book was on the ground behind me. "Um, yeah, why? Do you like the series?

"LIKE the series?" He says looking personally offended "I LOVE them! What's your Hogwarts house? I'm a Hufflepuff."

"Oh, I'm Slytherin." I say. I was truly surprised. I've never met anyone as passionate as me about a book series.

"That's cool" He said "I mean, Its not as cool as being in Hufflepuff. But it's cool."

This remark made me snap. "What?!" I shouted before completely covering my mouth with my  hands. I felt my face go red. 'What the hell Emberly! You're in a LIBRARY!' I thought as I slowly lowered my hands from my mouth. I'm sorry, but when someone insults my Hogwarts house it gets personal.

Jacob laughed in response. "Okay! Slytherin is a cool house too." He said in between laughs.

"Your right, it is." I said, eyes narrowing, my face still flushed.

"Yeah, to be honest  I think all the Hogwarts houses are spectacular."

I stared at Jacob, completely in awe before shaking my head. "Well of course they are."

He smiled. "Anyway, what book are you on?" He asked curiously

  "'The Goblet Of Fire'."

"So you haven't read 'The Deathly Hollows?"

  "No, not yet."

He gasped dramatically and rushed pass me to grab 'The Deathly Hollows' from the book shelf and said, "Not only will this book kill you, but it will hurt the entire time you are dying."

"You got that off a meme." I say rolling my eyes.

  He shrugs "Maybe"

As if just on cue, the librarian, Mrs.Walker, came into view.

"I'm sorry to interrupt, but could you dears keep it a little more quiet?" She asks kindly.

"Sorry grandma, got a little carried away." Jacob says. Mrs.Walker nods and walks away.

"Wait, Grandma?" I asked surprised. "If Mrs.Walkers your grandma why have I never seen you before?"

"I just moved here from New York. My dad grew up here with my mom but moved to New York before I was born. Our apartment was starting to get a little cramped and we already had another baby coming in soon, so we decided to move back here with my grandma." He said smiling big.

"Wow, you sure are the talker." I said smirking.

"I like to think of myself as an over enthusiastic announcer." He said as though he was bragging about a medal he won. "Anyway, what about you?"

  "...What?" I asked confused.

"What about you? How long have you lived here. Do you have any siblings? Do you always look so grumpy?"

"I do not always look grumpy! I said defensively. "You cant even see me!"

He shook his head. "No, but I can hear you and I always base people off on how they sound so to me you look grumpy."

Once again, he left me speechless.

"But its okay, you don't have to answer my question if you don't want to." He said as if he was just found guilty.

I shook my head. "Its alright... okay so I've lived in Bakersfeild my whole life, I have a mother named Jane and a brother named James."

  "And your father?" Jacob questioned.

"Oh, he-," I took a moment to decide if I should tell him. What if he judged me for it like everyone else? What if after our conversation he just thought of me as the sad girl whos dad died and is a total downer and is literally the worst person to be around? "Well...he died in a car crash when I was a baby."

"Oh, I'm so sorry." He said, his smile quickly vanishing. He sounded like he meant it more than most people do when they said it. What did they say exactly? The only two words appropriate to respond with when someone tells you someone you didn't even have any memories of died, "I'm sorry". But you can always tell who means it, and who says it like a machine.

"Its fine." I said looking away. "Anyway I told you, happy now?"

"Very" He responded with a smile

"Jacob!" I heard a woman call. I turned to see a beautiful  woman with dark raven hair and hazel eyes just like Jacobs. "Coming!" He yelled. "I've got to go, it was really nice to meet you. I hope I'll see you again." he said. As he ran past me, he turned his head and waved, smiling. I wish I could smile as much as he does. I smirked and waved back.

When Jacob and his mother walked around the corner, I looked at myself in one of the silver pillars. I was smiling, a smile that reminded me of something...

  It was Lily's smile.
