The travel wasn't as awkward and full of tension as I thought it would be. After the first mile, Tucker wasn't as much of an asshole as he was a while ago and the boys easily fell into a conversation about sports.

Thus, successfully leaving me to keep quiet and stare out the window while they slowly kill me with poor conversation. We'll be arriving in Briarville in about an hour or so.

Aunt Melody.

I feel the passenger's side window bump my head, I'm spaced out. I don't really remember much about her. Just the fact that dad wasn't in speaking terms with her. Will she turn us away?

"Andy, you're awfully quiet." said an alarmingly deep voice.

I turn around and laugh. Jack was sitting on the backseat of the car with the side of his face covered in ketchup. "You are the world's messiest eater." I roll my eyes playfully.

Jack was nice, friendly, dense sometimes, but overall good.

Tucker chooses this moment to prove to me how we're both so like-minded.

"Andy, I was thinking about Aunt Melody."

I turn to him.

"I don't think she's.. bad. I don't think she'll take out her anger on us if ever."

Tucker and I shared my dad. It took him a while to warm up to him, but he did and it breaks my heart to know he's lost two dads in his life.

"I sure hope so."

Time flew by and they eventually dropped Jack on the first bus stop as they agreed on.

"I'll be going to the high school here, maybe we can find each other there. It's been nice hanging out with you guys."

Tucker's phone died so Andy ended up exchanging numbers with Jack.

"See ya!"

Both boys in the car say as they drove away from the gentle giant.

"Jack's really something, isn't he?" I ask off-handedly.

"He's really big. I almost felt like I should search for a bean stalk."

We both laugh at the giant joke but our laughter doesn't really last since we were now stopping in front of aunt Melody's house.

"Talk about big."  Andy says.

"This house is huge."

"Ladies first." I turn to him with a smug grin.

I laugh at the bitch face and the finger I receive.

We get out of the car at the same time and after a few steps, we found ourselves in front of the large double doors.  We turn to each other and nod. Andy rings the doorbell.

"Just a moment!" A woman's voice calls out.

I gulp and brace myself. Melody could either let us in or make us go away. Andy would need me to be strong.

I could tell Andy was scared. I could see him trembling. My hand snaked to his and tightened around it. I felt his fingers wrap around my hand too. He was still trembling, but the look of gratitude he send me will forever be etched in my mind.

The door opens.
