“Azlyn!” He breathed, trembling. Dad drew me into a tight hug and I hugged him back just as tight. “I thought I’d never see you again!” He croaked hoarsely. “I thought you were gone forever like Cherry!”
I sighed happily. I finally had family now! I gave Dad a look-over. He was in worn down clothes. “Dad? Why do you look like you’re poorer than poor? We have money in the vault, I’ve seen all the money stacked everywhere.” Dad froze and pulled away. “Azlyn, I have something to tell you…” He sighed unhappily. Wow… Bipolar much?
“I’m a werewolf.” I laughed and smiled brightly. “I know. After Professor McGonagall told me who my father was, I did some research on you and found out.” Not particularly true, but he doesn’t really need to know I talked to my dead mother, does he? He smiled as if his happiest dream had come true. “So why does that mean you’re poorly dressed?” I asked confuzzled. Dad sighed. Again, bipolar.
“Azlyn, not everyone is as accepting as you are.” He looked so sad. “Werewolves have little to no rights. I wasn’t even supposed to marry Cherry, but the Minister wanted many werewolves help in the war and was really lenient on us. But after Cherry died and Voldemort was gone, Werewolf Laws were back and worse than ever. Werewolves who had married weren’t able to take money for the wizarding bank anymore because the minister revoked all the marriages he had allowed. We barely get by because it’s so hard to get a job. We can’t marry anymore. Or have children, though you’re safe because you were born before the Werewolf Child Prevention Act.”
I hugged Dad even tighter than before. “Remus,” Dumbledore spoke behind us Dad turned around. “You’ll be able to see Azlyn soon enough, she is going to be in your class after all. And Azlyn can spend all the time she wants with you after her classes.” Dad and I grinned sheepishly at each other and hugged once more. “G’night.” We told each other, then left our separate ways.
When I got to the tower, everyone was already up in their respective dorms, so I trudged up to the girls dormitory. Everyone was asleep, so, wanting to have some fun, I bunny hopped over to Hermione’s bed and started poking her non-stop. “Go away Ronald. Five more minutes.” She muttered. I snorted but kept poking her. “I said go away, --- AZLYN!!!!” She shrieked when she finally saw me. The next thing I knew, I was on the hard ground with all the breath knocked out of me. I laughed/ tried breathing without suffocating me. We talked for a while and then Hermione went to bed. I grinned and jumped into my bed.
“MERRROEWWWW!” A loud screech made me fall off my bed and onto the floor again. Luckily no one had been woken up, and ‘Mione was so far gone that the library could catch fire and she wouldn’t even twitch (that’s saying a lot, knowing Hermione). I peered over the side of the mattress. A slightly haggled cat was lying down on my bed. It got up and stretched, shooting me a ‘Really?!’ look.
Lol wut? Cats don’t give looks…
The cat put it’s head under my pillow and brought out a letter. “Heyyy kitty.” I got up slowly off the floor and sat on the bed. This time, not on the cat. It looked me over, as if seeing if I was the right person or not, then set the letter down on my lap. I opened the letter slowly. It was written in a handwriting I didn’t recognize.
Hullo Azlyn,
How does this person know my name?
I’m not sure when you’ll get this, but I need you to know some things. First off, take care of Muggle, the cat that probably delivered this letter.
Hey! That was the name of one of my mom’s cats!
She’s one smart cookie, so this letter shouldn't fall into the wrong person's hands. Second, I need you to trust your instincts; it could save my life in the near future.
