Prologue

"Are you sure you are okay walking around town alone?"My mom held my face as I nodded."Oh, I wish you would speak to me again, I miss your voice."She stroked my hair."Ok, be good."She waved me off.

I like this town lotta farms and beautiful animals.I'm guessing you are wondering when I stopped talking it was about 10 years ago when I saw my dad get shot in broad daylight telling me to run.I still hear it to this day.

"How about a big scoop of vanilla for my bug girl."He said lightly hitting my antenna.At age 7 I went through a bug phrase where I was a different My Dad always made sure that I had what I needed from school supplies to toys and everything in between being his only child he treated me like a spoiled brat which I wasn't."I want a rocky road."I said as he nodded."Two cones one rocky road one vanilla."He smiled at the ice cream man."Coming right up Mica."He smiled."Hey Mica Maylean."A deep voice called."Roger hey."My dad chuckled nervously."Where is my money."He bellowed holding his coat pocket.

"At my house."He places me on the ground."Daddy."I whined as he released me."Run."He looked at me as I took off."Dad,"I cried as he turns around just to get shot in his neck."Dad!"I screeched running towards him as the man took off."Daddy."I cried."Call the Police."This lady screamed.

I sat there for what seemed like hours to my seven-year-old self holding my fathers head hoping he would say this all a joke but he didn't.Soon enough the police showed up and pulled me away to ask questions.

"Sweetie what's your name?"She looked into my eyes."Sweetie I know it hurts but you gotta tell us what you and your dad's name," She looked at with hope,"Do you wanna write it down."I nodded as she handed me here notepad."Hi, I'm officer Briggs."She held out her hand i placed my small hand in hers and quickly went back writing what I saw and what I could spell yet again my vocabulary wasn't that big."Tell us what happened."She smiled as I handed her the note.

"Ok, Whats your mom's number."She said as I reached for the note."Kairea!"My mother cried."That my husband and My daughter."She pushed past the officer."What happened!"She screamed at me."Who did this."She held me looking at dad as I cried my tears holding her leg."He got shot in the neck," An Officer spoke."He lost to much blood He died on sight."He nodded as my mom fell back.

"Hey Hello."Some guy waved."You have been here for twenty minutes."He looked into my eyes as I walked off."I'm Hayes."I nodded."And You are?"He questioned as I kept going."So no name."He nodded."My name is Kairea."I said in my mind."So how long have you been here?"He asked as I kept going."So you don't speak."Kairea!"A'Kari yelled calling my name."I was looking for you."She panted as I looked puzzled."I was jogging but then I remember I promised to do your makeup today so come on."She grabbed my arm."So I'll see you around."He called."So was he bother you."She looked into my eyes I shook my head."Going to the ice truck again."I shamefully nodded."I'll go with you."SHe smiled.
