The Funeral Poem

Crash! The beer bottle smashed against the wall,
"Stop it," she cried out with a fearful call.
"Damnit, Karen, I lost him too," he yelled,
Karen looked at the ground and then she dwelled.
"I am leaving you, John," she admitted,
That's when he realized he was addicted.

He loved that woman with all of his might,
But they did not have energy to fight.
Ben, oh sweet Ben had passed that fateful day,
"Don't worry, it will get better," they say.
Tears seeped from their eyes time and time again,
On his funeral, they all said, "Amen."

In his miniature coffin, he was laid,
That day, they rested on their knees and prayed.
