This is a story that I started writing a long long time ago and I am still in love with it. I have not had time to continue it, but I might just leave it as a one shot type thing. It has absloutely not relevance to anything One Direction or whatever. The only relevance it has to my life is that Tyler stands for my cousin Tessa because I was originally going to do some stuff later in the story and also my family friend who was supposed to be back from Afganistan when I was writing this. So, if anyone likes this, let me know if I should continue it. Thanks!
I don’t know how long it has been. Maybe a couple weeks. A month? I have not really been paying much attention to reality. It feels like it has been years, decades even, since he was home. I shouldn’t be so selfish. He’s out there doing something that makes him proud. It makes everyone proud, me included. The only thing is, it seems like just yesterday that he was playing dress up with my brother and me in our basement. It seems like it was less than a week ago that those boys were just pretending to be soldiers.
FLASHBACK
“Annie, duck!” I heard the scream just in time for me to slide under the bed as another paper airplane came my way.
“I don’t want to play this game anymore! It’s not fair!” I pouted as I got up from my hiding spot.
My brother, Michael, and our best friend, Tyler, were letting me play with them. Only problem was, they chose to play ‘army.’ They both have camouflage gear and toy rifles, while I have nothing. Luckily, Tyler always gives me his soldier helmet. It’s a tad big, but it makes me feel like I fit in with them.
“How is it not fair? You’re just a sore loser.” And that would be my big brother. “If you were a boy, you’d probably be better at this game. I told you that you should just play with Rachael.” Michael wasn’t speaking meanly, just trying to convince me that I shouldn’t be playing.
“Aw, come on Mike. She just wants to spend time with me and you.” Tyler came to stand right in front of me before saying, “I’m sorry we were ganging up on you Annie. You know we didn’t mean to make you upset.”
See, Michael is almost a year older than Tyler, who is a year and a half older than I am. Me being the six year old that I was, of course I wanted to hang out with my big brother and his friends. Granted, Tyler was my friend too, because he is our neighbor.
“I, I know. I’m sorry for being such a baby. Maybe I should just go play with Rachael, she is a baby too.” I pouted again before beginning to walk over to the stairs.
“Annie, come on. You can stay.” Tyler said as he clumsily ran after me.
“Tyler, just let her go if she wants to. I don’t want her to be unhappy.” Mike spoke up.
“I wanna stay, I just don’t wanna play ‘army’ ‘cause you guys play against me.” I whined.
“Then stay, Mike and I can play ‘army’ tomorrow when you go to Maddie’s house.” Tyler smiled.
