FIRST DAY BACK AT SCHOOL FROM WINTER BREAK and Violet Finstock was really not that excited, as most teenagers wouldn't be. She had spent most of her winter break visiting her grandparents at their retirement home a few towns over, it wasn't initially her choice to spend half of her break around a bunch of old people but her dad reminded her of the different malls that were around and her mind quickly changed.
She'd come home with a completely new wardrobe and that plus being the only child on Christmas made her break very, very fruitful for her. Violet got a few days to herself before school started and she'd spent most of it with her best friend, Lydia, going to spas and such, just getting ready for back to school. The other time was gathering up her cheerleaders and doing a bit of practice to get them back into the routine of flopping their bodies around all day.
Now, she was at home getting ready to go back. She had done her hair and makeup already, and was just going through different outfits. She had a hard time picking between which skirt to wear; her favorite denim low waisted mini, or a pink mini skirt. She had her shirt on already, a cropped black long sleeve and a cute black sweater with moons and stars all over it that was also cropped.
She looked down at her sweater and decided that the stars wouldn't match with a pink skirt so she quickly pulled the denim one over her skin tone tights, which matched her sweater with stars all over it. She decided on a pair of black boots that went to her mid calf and started shoving her makeup into her black messenger bag along with random school supplies.
Violet checked her phone for the time, Lydia would be here soon to pick her up, so she gave herself a last look in the mirror before grabbing her bag and heading downstairs. Her dad was a teacher at her school, so he usually left before she did since he had teacher things to do before school started, and she never wanted to be that early to school so she never went with him.
She grabbed a little apple sauce squeeze package from the refrigerator and carefully, as to not mess up her lipgloss, ate it. She was absentmindedly staring out of her kitchen window as her neighbor across the street was walking out of his house.
He was her age, a few months older than her, and a bit of a dork. He was on the lacrosse team, well on it was a bit of an overstatement, he was just... there... on the bench usually, just watching, kind of pathetic really. The few times they had interacted hadn't gone very well, each time ending in arguments that their friends had to pull them away from each other, but it was fun irritating him, so she never missed an opportunity to mess with him but she had been pretty busy this year what with her making cheer captain so they hadn't interacted that much lately.
He was sitting in his car doing whatever he was doing when Lydia pulled up in-front of her house, Violet quickly grabbed her keys from the counter and head out to her car, almost forgetting to lock the front door.
"Starbucks?" Lydia questioned before Violet could shut her door.
Violet nodded and Lydia zoomed down the street like her life depended on it. "Jesus Lyds," Violet tugged on her seatbelt to make sure it was fully buckled in, "What's up your ass today?" from the deadly glares Lydia was shooting at other cars on the road it was pretty obvious she was upset.
The strawberry blonde rolled her eyes, "Jackson."
Violet groaned, "Whats new." she said with an eye roll, she liked Jackson, most of the time, but he was too immature to be in a relationship and definitely too immature to be in one with someone like Lydia, he had issues that went way deeper than typical high school boys and Violet was always telling Lydia to dump his ass.
Lydia would always just say that she didn't know Jackson like she did and how he good he was too her, but then Violet would remind her of how bad he could be too and to avoid arguments, one of them would change the subject. It's not like she wanted to hate Jackson, they had all grown up together, but while Lydia had grown up to be a bitchy, but beautiful genius, Jackson had turned into for lack of better words, an immature, insecure, piece of shit. She may have been friends with Jackson first but Lydia was her best friend and she would always want better for her and she knew that Jackson wasn't what was best for her.
