(Yes! I get to write this part! I love this! Okay, I’ll get started now.)
We had been riding in the forest for about thirty minutes before we came to an opening that happened to be a beach. When you turned your head to face the ocean, there were no islands in the distance. Just Open Ocean; and that was a beautiful view.
Trotting along in the yellow/white sand, I was gripping the back of the saddle; not wanting to put my arms around some stranger. I didn’t really want to ride behind one of the soldier men, but it would have been rude to decline the offer. I had periodically seen my cousins a few times. Keith, Allen and John were riding on the backs of centaurs (Lucky! I didn’t think they let people do that very often!), Thomas got his own horse (Which must have been an extra horse in case one of the ones the soldiers were riding became lame), and Blair and Jay riding the same way I was. Behind a person.
The guy I was riding behind and I had made some small talk on our journey. Apparently his name was Zachariah; the horse we were riding was named Lamar and was mainly Arabian with a little bit of something else mixed in. Nobody knew. I had already figured out the horses breed about five minutes into the ride, but didn’t bother to tell him that.
He was also born in Narnia, and was raised by an elderly lady who had lost her son a few years after he was born. His mother and father were killed a few months after he was born, so he didn’t have any memories of them.
Anyways, after about another fifteen minutes of the Oceanside ride, a large stone castle came into view. “This is Castle Palatium. It’s where Cair Paravel used to be, but it got destroyed a long time ago.” Zachariah said.
“Oh. Okay.”
“It has some of the old stone from Cair Paravel built into it, to blend the old with the new.” He explained.
“That’s quite interesting.” I answered. We had come up to the castle gaits, so we had to dismount the horses. We began walking up the stairs that lead to the castle. I counted them all, and there were a total of eighty four steps. Not that many, but the stairs were quite tall. Most of the soldiers, including my new ‘friend’ Zachariah, went to put their horses in the stables. The centaurs are the ones who lead us into the castle.
“Run and get King Caspian, please.” The head centaur, who Keith told me was named Mekaile (Me-ky-el), told one of the maids in the entryway. He then turned to us. “King Caspian will be down here momentarily. Then, we will have proper introductions.”
We had to wait around for about five minutes, before we saw a man descending down the main staircase, that lead up to higher floors of the castle. He had a train of people behind him.
“King Caspian and Queen Syrah!” Someone announced. I guess that was his job or something. Everyone in the room, which included about twenty people, looked up and watched them come down the last ten steps. There were three small children trailing behind them, and a baby in the Queen’s arms.
King Caspian strode straight towards us. “Alas! Aslan has sent us help in this time of need!” he said with his baritone voice.
“What are you talking about, sir?” Thomas asked.
The King got a look of confusion in his eye, but it left quickly. “We will talk later” He said quietly. “Now, time for introductions! I am Caspian, King of Narnia. This is my wife, Queen Syrah.” He said, gesturing towards the blonde haired Queen standing next to him.
“This is Prince Rhys,” He said. A boy, looking about six years old, with brown hair and dark blue eyes stepped forward.
“Princess Rhae,” A five year old blonde girl with icy blue eyes came forward.
