"Today you'll do it. You can do it Stanley. She's just a girl."

Stanley Uris stopped his bike on the grass and looked up. In the bright rays of sunshine that shone down between the trees, stood a glowing Y/N.

"Just a girl."

Y/N turned and saw him standing there. Her face lit up with a bright smile and she waved. Stan parked his bike next to a tree and walked over to Y/N. She was wearing a pretty Y/F/C dress and her Y/H/C hair was pulled back into a messy side plait. Stan could hardly take his eyes off of her.

"Hey Stanley," she smiled, holding up the ends of her dress to avoid the dirty ground while she walked towards her friend. "Where are the others?"

"Um... they'll be here soon," Stanley lied. Their friends weren't coming. This afternoon was just him and her.

"Well... where are we going?" Y/N asked. Stan smiled.

"I thought we could take a nice walk through the woods?" he suggested.

"Sounds great," Y/N grinned a gorgeous smile. The two left Stanley's bike and began their trek.

Stan occasionally took quick glances at Y/N. He would never tell anyone, but... he thought he loved her. Well, he had never been in love before, so he didn't really know. But there was something about Y/N. He loved the way the sun hit her face making her skin seem to sparkle. And the way her eyes twinkled when she laughed. And the way she skipped along the path without a care in the world with her smile bright, making him feel warm and happy.

"It's such a beautiful day, Stanley, don't you think?" Y/N asked, snapping Stan out of his daze.

"Hm?... oh, yeah, it is isn't it?" He said, looking up at the cloudless, blue sky. Y/N smiled. The two continued to walk.

"Come on Stan. You can do it," Stanley thought to himself, praying he hadn't accidentally spoken out loud (Y/N often said he had a habit of doing that).

"There's a clearing here. Could we sit down?" Y/N asked. Stan looked up to see a small clearing in the trees with a few rocks and trunks to sit on.

"Sure."

He followed Y/N as she lifted her dress and climbed onto the tree trunk, while Stan sat down on a large rock. For a few moments they sat in silence, as Y/N breathed in the fresh air of the forest and Stanley listened to her breathing. He opened his mouth.

"I really do love spending time with you," Y/N interrupted with a grin. Stanley felt himself blush, and finally spoke.

"I love spending time with you too. But there's something I need to tell you."

Y/N looked down at him curiously.

"Go on."

He breathed in deeply.

"Y/N... I like you. I really like you. I have done for a long time, and I've not told you because I was scared that you'd see me differently, because I think I'm in love with you and I don't want anything to be different between us but I had to get it off my chest, I had to tell you..."

Stan looked up after ending his ramblings. Y/N stared at him.

Then she began to grin.

"Oh Stanley, you do make me laugh," she giggled. His face dropped.

"What? Why?" He asked. Y/N stopped.

"Wait... you were being serious?" She questioned.

"Y/N.... I really like you," Stan said, standing up to be level with her eyes. Y/N looked into his.

"Stanley... I- I'm sorry. I don't like you. I don't love you," Y/N whispered, her eyes suddenly glistening. Stanley felt his heart ache.

"Y-You don't..."

"I'm sorry," Y/N said, jumping down from the tree trunk and running away.

And just like that, she was gone.
