Chapter 1 | Chipmunk cheeks

You know that moment when your alarm goes off on a Monday morning, blaring the utmost annoying pop song in the history of pop songs? Well I'm actually living in that moment currently, except it's Friday morning.

Thinking about how it's the end of the week gives me the energy to roll over on my side to glance at my phone on my night stand that is causing my excruciating pain and deafness. I squinted at the screen to see what time it was and my eyes widen as I read that it was 7:00 AM and school starts in 25 minutes.

I dropped my phone on my night stand hurriedly and yanked my warm covers off of me, instantly feeling the coldness on my legs. I sat up and started to speed walk my way to my bathroom; but since my floor is completely covered in clothes and shoes that I still haven't picked up, I tripped over one of my shoes and fell face first on the carpet.

May I add that my carpet is completely hairy from my dog that sheds more than an Eskimo? Great, here's my breakfast for the morning.

I walked out of my bathroom and quickly went to my closet to throw some clothes on for the day. I ended up wearing black ripped jeans, and a plain, thin white t-shirt with my black converse. I lightly applied mascara and concealer to finish it off.

I stared at my face in the mirror, putting my waist length, honey blonde hair in a messy bun.

I sighed and realized this was as good as it's going to get. I grabbed my backpack off of my desk that's next to my window, directly across from my bed.

I swiftly made it out of my room and hopped down the staircase, skipping one at a time to lighten up my mood.

"Madi? Sweetheart is that you?" My mom asked, sounding muffled from the kitchen. I walk into the kitchen to find her putting dog food into Milo's bowl for breakfast. He's a fat chocolate Labrador, who is completely spoiled.

My two older brothers: Bryce and Brett, were sitting at the dining table munching on Fruit Loops with milk running down their chins. It's crazy to me that they're 19. They looked up at me and gave me a lopsided grin.

I chuckled at the both of them and turned my attention to my mom.

"Yeah mom it's just me, I'm running crazy late and it's currently 7:13 AM, so I gotta go. I love you!" I bent down to give Milo some love and opened my front door to head to school. Lucky for me, my school was only a 5 minute drive from my house.

"I love you too! Have a great day babe!" I hear her say as I walk out the door and stride my way to my car. I immediately get in and drive to school.

I parked my car in my assigned parking spot and I rushed out and ran to the front entrance of the school. The halls were empty, seeing as it was 7:24 AM and everyone was in class.

I had a minute to get to class, and I silently thank the heavens that my English class was right around the corner.

Nonetheless, I still sprinted to my class, and pulling the door quite forcefully. I looked up to see my teacher, who looked amused to see me out of breath and looking like a tomato.

"I'm glad you could finally join us, Madi." Oh I'm sure you're ecstatic Mrs. Williams.

"I'm glad someone is." I smiled jokingly. She gave me a small smile and pointed at me with her ruler.
