The next morning I woke with a smile on my face. After the horrible afternoon my evening and night was wonderful. I just wish I could tell me mom about Corey. I know she will not like him just because she didn;t pick him out for me. You see my mom tells me every decision to make in my life. She told me that she knows what is best for me because she already lived her life, even though, I might add, she has made some horrible mistakes in her past. As long as She don't lash out on Corey I think the trouble I get into will be worth it.
Laying in bed with a big smile on my face my sister barges in. She is two years younger than me but she is one of the closest friends I have. If it wasn't for our late night talks I might lose my mind. My mom doesn't control her the way she does me. In fact I envy her sometimes for it. She is tall and beautiful, she had dark brown hair with a dark complexion and chocolate brown eyes. She is the complete opposite of me. I have bleach blonde hair, blue eyes, and if I didn't tan I would have vampires jealous of my pasty white coloring. As you already know I am short at five foot two I wear heels more often to appear taller. My sister, Whit, Is probably already five foot six.
"Are you up? Mom and dad are going out tonight for dinner. I was wondering if you wanted to go with me to take the boys up town tonight?" Pausing for a long breath finally, "Wow, I thought you didn't go shopping with mom yesterday! This dress is goregous!"
"Shhh, I didn't go with her. My new date can drive so we got matching outfits last night. I haven't told mom yet because I don't want her to know until some of her furry has blown off a little. And yes I would love to walk up town with you and the boys."
The boys are our two younger brothers. Asher is five years younger than me and Willy eight years younger. They can be pesky but going out beats staying in all night and having to cook dinner.
"Oh! Okay my lips are zipped, but I suggest to not hold off too long. You know how fast mom hears things. It could only be hours till she hears."
"Hears what?"
Shit! My mom just walked in nosey as always.
"Oh Whit was just saying it could only be hours till she hears if Meg can graduate school."
Meg was a made up name that I placed in my sisters class. Since my mother is so involved in my life she has no clue what goes on in any of the other kids' life.
"Meg... Never heard you mention her before Whit. Well I was just coming to wake you up. I wanted to let you know that Mrs. Kline is making Robby take you to homecoming."
" No mom. I need to tell you. That dress over there." Hesitantly pointing to my dress. "I bought it last night. Remember Corey? Well after you guys left I got on Facebook and talked to him. He asked me to homecoming since I no longer had a date." I fibbed a little but she didn't need to know all the details right?
"NO! No you are not going with someone we don't know. How do we know he won't kidnap you?"
"See we already made plans. We are going to meet in the high school lobby at nine and walk into the gym together. That way one he can't kidnap me and two I am not riding in the car with him at night."
"Well looks like you already went against both of your reasonings so why does it matter now? I am not comfortable with this choice and I think you need to tell him your going with Robby. I will take back the dress tonight when your dad and I go out to eat."
"Mom I am sorry but I am making a choice and going with Corey to this dance. I am not going to go with someone who broke my heart for no reason. I don't know why you can't understand Robby broke up with me. He doesn't want to be with me so just drop it!"
I storm out of my room and get ready to jump in the shower. No reason to sit and listen to this when I know it will just get me no where but grounded.
After washing up and getting dressed I spent extra time applying make up and curling my hair. No reason to hurry up, I had no plans till this evening.
Ducking into the office I check my Facebook. Corey was not online but I decided to leave and offline message to him.
Hey, I won't be on today having a double date with my sister and two brothers at the Arcade. Here is my number if you wanna text me. 217-111-9235. Have a good day.
Deciding I can't hide much longer I head out to the living room. No one was in there so I decided to plop down on the couch and watch some t.v. More daydreaming than paying attention to what was actually on. My phone interupts me.
Thanks for your number. Sounds like fun tonight for you. I had a great time last night. CL
Well that didn't take him long to text me.
Your welcome. I figured texting was easier than trying to catch you on Facebook. :) I had fun last night. BTW I told my mom about the dance. :0
Damn how did that go? I thought you wanted to wait a couple days. CL
Well I left before she could ground me or tell me no. She wanted to return my dress. I took the tags off and hid the dress in my sisters closet.
Haha I think I need to take you on a correct date. Don't make plans for tomorrow. I will pick you up at ten.
What do you have planned?
That is a surprise. See you tomorrow. CL
I sent another text full of qauestions but it is now five hours later and he still hasn't replied. But time to take my mind off of Corey for a while and head out to dinner with my siblings.
Walking up to the Arcade was actually more fun than I thought. It was a good twenty minute walk so we had a short distance races and just goofed around as much as possible. The night was still warm but I was glad I decided to put jeans on. The bugs were out and biting. My t-shirt didn't help cover up my arms and some of the mid-riff that was exposed.
The Arcade was a little diner that was out-dated but matched the rest of the town. Have you ever heard the term one horse town? That is the exact deffinition of Paxton, Illinois.
