I run through the woods, branches wiping my face. Angry wolves growl at us in the distance.
"Their gaining!" Krisa says as her and Jackson pick up their pace. I look back to check on them and the wolves burst out of the bushes.
"Run!"I scream and jump over a log in the middle of a pond. I use my hands to push away tree limbs so that I don't stop running.
"Noah!!" Jackson and Krisa yell. I turn around and look at them confusingly. But before I can turn forward a wolf jumps on me and rams me into a log. I reach my hand into my pocket, the one the knife is in.
"Shit." I whisper to myself as I realize the knife is gone. I knee the wolf in the stomach, and knock it off me. There is a stick at arms length away, so I grab it. I lunge at the wolf and lodge the stick in its heart.
"Noah? How?" Krisa asks s bit confused.
"Natural reflexes Krisa, natural reflexes." I say as I drop the stick at me feet.
"Uhh, Noah, are you ok?" Jackson asks concerningly.
"Yeah I feel fine. Why?" I say eyeing him questionably.
"This." Krisa says and pulls something out of my head, and it stings.
"What the?" I say shocked.
"When you hit the log." Krisa and Jackson say.
"Ok. Well we need to get out of here." I say and pick up the pocket knife.
We walk through the forest in silence. There is a growl in the distance behind us.
"More wolves?" Krisa asks wearily
"No. Bigger." Jackson says and grabs a sharp stick from the ground.
"Bear!" I shout. All three of us hold our ground ready to fight it.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Jackson says a small bit of fear in his voice. The bear charges at us. We hold sharp sticks and have them pointed in the direction of the bear's chest. The sticks go into the bear's stomach and blood flows out of the holes we made with the sticks. Unfortunately this didn't kill the bear, just severely injure it. The sound of an arrow breaks the sudden but violent silence. It pierces the bear directly in the head.
"Follow Ghost!" A voice says from the trees. A white wolf bursts out of the shadows, and we follow him as instructed by the strange voice.
A while later we come to a clearing and the wolf is gone.
"We came here for nothing!" Krisa says annoyed
"Up here silly." The same voice from before says from above us. We all look up and a girl with blonde hair and fox ears jumps down from the tree.
"I'm Fae." She says politely.
"Why do you-?" Jackson begins but another voice from behind us cuts him off.
"Science experiment." A native american girl says walking out of the bushes with the white wolf.
"That's the wolf that we followed." I say a bit confused.
"This wolf used to be human. Until that idiotic professor experimented on him and turned him into a wolf. His name is Ghost though." The girl says kindly.
"And you are?" Krisa asks a bit rudely.
"Sei." She says eyeing Krisa.
"Well, I'm Noah, this is Krisa and my cousin Jackson." I say pointing to them when I say their names.
"Nice to meet you but you must follow us to our camp." Fae says and walks towards the bushes Sei came through. We follow her and Sei stays back a bit keeping watch for more predators.
