AUTHORS NOTE: I can't believe that this story is drawing to a close. There are about three more chapters left and the ending is all written out. I REALLY want to know what you guys think of it but it'll have to wait. Anyway, hope you enjoy this one!
JANG POV
After that positively wonderful conversation with the king yesterday, I woke to a horribly loud pounding. Only this time, it wasn't in my head.
Terrific.
I slowly dragged myself out of bed and staggered over to the door.
"What did you do?!"
"Did you hear the news?"
"How did you do it?"
"Are you crazy?!"
"Is he here?"
"Odin was absolutely furious!"
I was practically trampled as Sarah, Abby and Elizabeth all rushed into my room at once. I closed the door behind me and everyone just kept talking. I just stood there, knowing they would stop eventually. When they finally did, I took a deep breath and rubbed my head.
"What did I do now?" I asked.
"Well, whatever it was, it definitely pissed off one of the most powerful people in this realm. Odin was practically bursting! You really meed to work on your people skills." Abby exclaimed.
"What happened?" I asked, my eyes still bleary from sleep.
"Odin called for us super early this morning. We all rushed to the throne room and he looked like he was going to explode!" Elizabeth said.
"I wish he would." I mumbled under my breath.
"We all do. Now shut up and let her finish." Sarah said, sounding exasperated.
"Thanks. Anyway, he told us that we all have to leave in three days. Loki is being released from the dungeon but he had to stay with you all the time. He is literally prohibited from going anywhere without you."
"Except for tomorrow though." Abby added. "You're going to have a hearing before the village and state your case. And then a separate meeting before the gods."
The haze and fog of sleep was gone in an instant. "All of the gods?" I asked.
Elizabeth nodded. "Yup. All of them."
"Well, isn't that just lovely." I said.
"The good news is, you'll be with your boyfriend again." Sarah laughed, putting emphasis on the word 'boyfriend.'
Suddenly, the door banged open and in walked Loki, escorted by two heavy armed guards. Instead of his usual Asgardian get up, he was wearing a simple shirt and trousers. He still had the muzzle on, preventing him from saying anything.
The guards roughly dragged and pushed him in.
One of them looked at me. "You know the rules." He grunted.
I gave him a curt nod. "Of course."
He turned and left and the girls quickly following suit, saying that we needed some time together.
And I agreed.
Once I had shut the door behind them, I walked over and gave Loki a hug. I was so glad to be with him again, without having someone guarding us.
"Hello love." He talked in my head, the muzzle glowing slightly to stop him from even doing that.
I frowned. "Why do you have to wear that stupid thing? It's completely pointless." I said bluntly.
He just shrugged. "Whatever the reason, I hate the infuriating thing. It drains me just to speak to you like this." I could see him getting tired and rather quickly.
We both sat down on my bed. "So what should we do? I have my meetings tomorrow and we leave the day after that. We basically have a free day." I paused. "There's nothing to do in here. Any ideas?"
He thought for a moment before jumping up suddenly. He gave me his hand and helped me up.
I laughed as he dragged me behind him. I was lead to his room and went inside. There, he took me to his huge library slash study. There were books everywhere and I loved it.
"This is perfect." I said.
We spent the whole day just lazing around, books piled up all around us. Instead of talking, we passed notes.
I laughed at how juvenile it seemed.
We were both sprawled on the floor by the window, reading when he passed me the paper we were using. I picked up the paper and saw what he wrote.
'I love you.' I read it and looked up at him. I saw pure happiness and joy in his eyes. I could remember a time when he looked so calm and relaxed. It was so cheesy and cliche but at this point, I really didn't care.
I smiled and picked up the pen.'I know.' I wrote with a smirk on my face. I passed it back and he read it. He quickly wrote something back and handed it to me again.
'This is the part where you say "I love you too."'
I laughed. "I know." I said out loud. This was so unlike him. So warm and caring. I loved it, more than I thought I possibly could.
I wished I could just pause the moment, just live in it forever. But all good things have to come to an end.
The window suddenly shattered into a million tiny pieces that glimmered in the light of the sunset.
I heard the soft whiz of an arrow as it impaled it's self on the bookshelf right above my head.
After the initial shock, I noticed the arrow had something attached to it. It was a note that read,
'Leave and no harm shall come.
Stay and see what happens.
That which you love most will be taken.
-S'A death note? Really?
I looked up at Loki in confusion. "Is it for me or for you?" I asked.
He just shrugged, acting just as confused as I was.
But I sensed something. He was hiding something from me.
I got the feeling that he knew who the note was from.
I also got the feeling that the note was meant for me.
AUTHORS NOTE: Comment on who you think 'S' is! Also, a little birdie told me that there is some fanart for this story floating around. If you have fan art, please let me know! I would love to see it!
