JANG POV

I woke up feeling even worse than when I went to bed.

Not that I slept much anymore anyways.

My sleep deprived haze disappeared as I suddenly realized the task that had been put before me today.

I was going to have to talk to the village about, well, everything. Even though Odin was king, if the people hated something enough, they would be sure to get him out of power as soon as possible. I had to change their minds about me.

And Loki.

I walked over to my wardrobe and pulled out the dress I had been given to wear for today.

It was green and stopped right at my knees, longer in the back and flowing out behind me. Two thick black straps held it up and wrapped around my waist.

'It matches his eyes.' I thought.

I snapped my fingers and it was on instantly. A handy new trick I had learned. I still hadn't taken the mysterious necklace of, fearing what would happen if I did. As I got ready, my mind raced from what I was going to say to the public and what I was going to say to the 'prince'.

The speech to the public should be bold. I had to show them I wasn't afraid. If I showed any sign of weakness, people would attack and tear me to shreds. Yet at the same time, I also had to show emotion. I still had to convey that I wanted nothing more than to leave this place and just go home. I had to kill off the rumors flying everywhere. Alaline had told me that the stories about me were spreading like wildfire. They would be whispered into the ears of other palace staff which quickly moved down into the village in the dead of the night.

Stories said that I was Loki's lover, secret wife, sister or even his child at one point. I had to put an end to this madness and show them who I really was.

What I was going to say to Loki wasn't going to be very different. I had to convince him that I wasn't afraid of him either. I had to show him that he had changed, for the better. But I also had to show some vulnerability and show him that I needed him, more than anything else.

Two speeches.

One for mercy.

One for love.

I shook myself out of my own thoughts and left. I was to go get Loki and take him to the meeting. I was about to open his door when one of the guards raised his hand, stopping me.

"I'm sorry milady, but he's not in there."

"Well then, where is he?" I asked. The guards knew full well he was to be with me at all times or escorted by someone approved by the royal family. The two exchanged a knowing glances before the second one spoke.

"He has been in private audience with the king all morning, miss."

I was beginning to get worried now. Why would Odin want to talk to him now? He had clearly written off both of us. "The king requested audience with him?"

The first guard hesitated before answering. "He sought audience with the king, milady. We we're told to tell you that the speech you are to give is postponed until the afternoon."

I nodded curtly and thanked the guards. I went back into my room and sat on the bed, trying to think. Why would Loki want to talk to Odin? It didn't make any sense. Suspicion started to bubble up in my chest but I quickly suppressed it. There was no point in make wild assumptions. I would just ask him later today.
