"Oi, Give me the money then I'll get rid of your rats "
A deal was going down in the alleys of the huge city and it wasn't the usual one that's goes around. Dealers all around were talking to their clients about drugs, prostitutes or weapons but on this certain alley at the back of some old building was a deal that decided whether someone lived or died."You said it was only fifteen hundred! That's not fair."
"Well I doubled it. Now pay up or you'll be a new rat"
"You're a bastard Levi-!"
The young mans life ended right there. Under the night sky lifeless without stars. In a small alley with dirt, puke and piss mixing along with the blood that spilled from the mans throat. "Rule number 1: Don't say my name. " he cleaned off the bloodied knife and slipped it back into his inner jacket pocket "We had a great time Marlowe" Levi said slipping on a glove and sliding his hand into the dead mans pocket taking out whatever money he had.Levi looked at his dead 'friend' and sighed waking off and blending into the darkness that filled the crowded streets. He needed the money and he realized Marlowe was getting to comfortable with Levi, there's no getting comfortable with a killer.
His kills didn't effect him at all mostly he could go about his day and not give them a second thought, but this one. This one was different. Marlowe was a friend of sort . He was one of Levi's good clients. Always contacting him any way he could to get Levi another job. Just another rich brat who ordered Levi too kill whom he wanted to die. But Marlow didn't think of it as killing but more of sweeping up the streets. He targets thieves ,rapists, abusers and all of those other filth of humans that Marlowe thought worthy of having been killed.
"It wouldn't hurt too see who Marlowe wanted dead right?" Levi silently agreed with himself and took a left down a dirtier part of town. He knew deep down he secretly enjoyed Marlowes killings, he loved cleaning the world of those type of people;rats. He passed by a few people he could recognize as clients and some drunk people that laid on the street too occupied with their sleep to care that they were in the middle of the roads.
Levi remembered the address he was given clearly and looked up at the beat up apartment. He opened entrance and walked inThe apartment entrance was drenched with a musty smell hit as soon as you walked in. The weather outside was practically freezing but in here it was dry and humid. At the wooden desk stood a bald fat man with great need of a shower since his smell was strong even from a short distance away from him. "You seen my son? That bastards been out for an hour already " the bald man addressed Levi; the raven glared him and replied a blunt no. This place was disgusting. The brown walls that Levi assumed where once white had stains that went up and down the walls some on the floor. The poorly lit corridors left barely enough light for the Numbers on the doors too be seen.
"9...11...13 found it "
He knocked the door three times before it flew open.
"What!?" A man with shabby long hair and a dirty white tank top answered.
"Good evening I'm the landlords son -"
"Tell your lazy ass father that he'll have the rent by next week and to stop nagging me!" The long haired man spoke spitting in the ravens direction . Levi decided to kill him right then, he clenched his fist-his attention was caught by the flickering of lights coming in from the house. He unclenched his fist.
"No, sir. I was here about your electricity problem" Levi said.
"It's was Eren wasn't it?! He went to complain bout it?" The man turned around leaving Levi at the door and disappeared into a room only to reappear dragging a young boy by the arm.
"Here's the boy. Eren you're paying for this stupid light How dare you think I'd waste money on fixing a light !" He spat at the young boy and pushed him to Levi's feet. " I'm sorry" Eren said barely audible for anyone to hear.
Eren wore bruises all up his arms and a few on his face, he looked weak and sick; his messy hair completed his terrible look. His frame was small and he stood a few inches shorter then Levi when he fully stood up.
"Apologies for the disturbance Ill be leaving now I'll come back another time " Levi spoke as an attempt to leave the abusive household. " No fix the light while you're here, I'll be back in an hour. Eren stop being so useless and pay the man when he's done " Grisha grabbed his coat and walked out.
The door slammed before the two and Levi was wondering how he ended up in this situation. Levi stood wondering how Marlowe ever crossed paths with Grisha. He couldn't picture the rich germaphobe anywhere near this place.
"You don't gotta fix it's alright, you can leave he won't notice" Eren spoke from the couch he now sat in.
"When did Marlowe come here?" Levi blurted his mind taking action in it own. "Marlowe?" Eren asked peeking up from the couch "Forget it." Levi was a cruel person most times but why this time he was staying to fix a light he had no idea.
"No, Marlowe said he was gonna send someone" Eren said to himself. "Are you the guy? The guy that's gonna fix the problem?" Eren said enthusiastically and ran to his room. He came back with a bag and tossed it to Levi.
"Is this suppose to impress me in a way?" Levi asked picking up the bag with a gloves hand. "Two hundred dollars. It took me a months to save that up. " Eren said pleading. "And what exactly am I to do with this money?" He said counting it. It was crumbled bills and a few coins laying around. After he counted the three dimes it was exactly $200.
" Don't you get rid of people? Kill them. Make them disappear?" Eren said
Levi put two and two together. Eren was Marlowe's client. He wanted his dad dead.
He thought about it briefly
"Do you know who I am?" Levi looked at Eren in the eyes
"No Marlowe said he couldn't give a name"
"How did you meet him?" Levi asked not that it mattered it was out of curiosity
"I was in an alley and was bleeding everywhere and he shows up talking crazy bout how he can help me" Eren paused standing up and looking Levi in the eye."Will you do it? "
"Do you have any other family?"
"No, not that it matters to you"
"You're right it doesn't. Tomorrow night I'll be back"
"Thank you... What do I call you?"
"Captain"
"Don't you got a name or something?"
"Not for you. Tomorrow I'll be here"
He walked away slamming the door behind as he disappeared into the city.
