Chapter six

<Mitch's pov>

Evie finally got me to come out of my room. "You need to talk to him!" she insists. I sigh and play around with my hair. "What am I supposed to say?" I honestly can't take this guilt anymore. "First of all, that you're sorry," she suggests. I nod and wipe my sweaty palms on my jeans.

I breath in and am about to knock on the door when a very depressed looking Alison swings it open. She looks like she's going to say something but bursts into tears, ruining her makeup more. "I-I'm sorry," she stutters. "At least, hashtag merome, right?" she croaks. "Yeah," I agree. "Well, I already made this awkward enough, so might as well finish it. I don't really believe in love at first sight but you changed my mind. I'll probably still like you for a while but, hey, I'll get over it," she smiles, although it looks forced. "Well, um, I hope you find the right guy," I smile, looking at the ground. "Is Jerome in there?" She bites her lip and swallows. "Y-yeah."

"Jerome?" I knock on the already opened door, feeling that it's polite or something. I step in the room and see him sitting on the bed. I slide into the stop next to him. "I'm sorry, Jerome. Really, really sorry. I made a mistake, please forgive me?" He doesn't answer. "Jerome, please, talk to me. I'll pick up these broken pieces until I'm bleeding, if that'll make it right. I love you so much and I can't stand to see you hurt," I croak out the last part, trying to keep my voice steady.

He finally faces me and it's obvious he's been crying, which makes me feel guiltier. I put my hand on his cheek. "Mitch, I-," he starts but I'm already kissing him. I feel him smiling and fall in love all over again. "Hey, guys, I'm- HASHTAG MEROME!" Evie squeals from the hallway. Frightened, I jump back. "Evie, you startled me!" I yell at her and giggle.

Jerome looks at me, getting the same idea. We both hop up and tackle her in the hallway. "Ahh! Noo!" she laughs. "Oh, Jerome, I think we need to teach our friend here a lesson not to scare the benja," I grin evilly. Jerome pins her arms down and I tickle her. "Aghh, nooo!" she screams but they turn into laughs. Alison walks back down the hall and sees us. "Aw, naw! Don't touch her!" She pounces on me and immediately gets off, blushing. I really don't things to be awkward between us. Before I can say anything, I'm being tickled with Evie and Jerome pinning me down. "Jerome, I feel betrayed!" I giggle. "I just wanted to hear you laugh," he smiles. "Awwww!" Evie and Alison coo at the same time. "Oh, shut-" I try to say but I'm being kissed.

"Instagram dis stuff!" Evie yells and I hear her phone camera go off. "No, please, I fan!" I say, getting out from under Jerome. We all laugh at my reference and go back downstairs.

"Oh Meh Gawd, we thought someone was dying up there with all that noise!" Jason yells at us, punching me in the arm.

<Jerome's pov>

"What happened, anyway?" Adam asks. I blush and Mitch covers for us. "I'd rather not talk about it," he sighs. "Oh, okay. Sorry."

We go back to movie watching but I'm really sleepy. I lean on Mitch and he plays with my hand. "Please don't ever leave me, biggums," he whispers, his lips brushing my ear. "Never," I promise and he kisses me on the forehead. I look up at him and pull his face closer to mine. His soft, sweet lips touch mine and I murmur through the kiss, "Never."
