"Chris... Chris!" Barbara, mother of Christine Callaghan, shouted. She ran upstairs into her daughter's room and found her still sleeping in bed. If she didn't wake up after the last call then Barbara would have to throw a bucket of ice cold water to wake her up. Christine sat up on her bed, utterly confused. She had no idea where she was or what happened and hoped her plan to escape hadn't failed.
"Chris, come on, it's school." Barbara said.
"S-school?" not being able to remember anything, Christine forgot the meaning of the word.
"Yes, now get ready or you'll be late."
Barbara walked out of the room, she still had to finish breakfast. Christine got up and looked out her bedroom window. The sun rose just a few minutes ago and the sky was clear. She felt as though she relived this day, like it already happened. Maybe this is how she would find out who she is and learn once again certain words she had forgotten. Christine walked over to her closet and put on a white T-shirt, black jeans and converse. Everything she did was based on instinct, this included taking a shower and brushing her teeth and hair. Christine walked downstairs into the kitchen finding her father, Jack, sitting at the dinner table with a newspaper, waiting for his breakfast as he read. Barbara set down two plates of toasted bread with strawberry jam on the table. The first plate was set down in front of Jack and the second one was set next to him at an open seat.
"Come and eat your breakfast, honey." Barbara said to Christine. Christine sat down at the table and took a bite on one of the toasts. Her mother set down a glass of orange juice and Christine thirstily drank from it.
"Your bag's on the couch in the lounge." Barbara informed, knowing full we that it's the one thing her daughter occasionally forgets. Christine swallowed the last piece of her second slice of toast and drank the last little of her juice.
"Th-thank y-you." She stammered and got up from her seat to retrieve her bag. Christine walked into the lounge, picked up her bag from the couch and wore it around her shoulder.
"B-bye!" she stammered once again and walked out. Surprised that she knew where she was headed, Christine made it to school. She remembered where her locker was located, but she did not know the code to open it. Confused once again, she stood in front of her locker, staring at it until a boy came up to her and spoke, "Need help?" The boy gave a friendly smile, one that reached his brown eyes.
"Y-yes." Christine replied.
"Here let me."
Christine took a step back, allowing the boy to move towards the locker. He turned the lock five times in different directions and it opened.
"Thank you." Christine said.
"No problem. I'm Alex by the way."
"Chris-tine."
"It's nice to meet you Christine." he gave another warm smile. The bell rang and this time it looked like Alex was in a hurry.
"Sorry, I have to go." he said. "See you around."
