I watch as death slowly makes it's way to the couch I came from and puts it's long hand on the worn arm rest.
"It happened here." It says.
Death has no sympathy whatsoever, but it has a sense of respect for its work. It takes a seat and delivers the news.
"You died from a heart attack, Collin."
I find myself wiping tears from my warm flushed cheeks.
"Heart attack ?" My voice starts to crack.
"I was just drinking how I did I-"
Death stops me.
"Do you even know what was packed in the drink you were chugging?"
There is a moment of silence between us. I'm trying to sort through all of my clouded memories to grab the answer it needs but I'm not succeeding. Death lifts itself from its seat and looks at me, almost hypnotizing me with its deep pool of red eyes before it says one word.
"Caffeine."
I'm still confused and trying to gather my memories from what seems like hours ago. Death grins and shakes his head.
"Do you even remember what you were drinking?" It says from almost a joking voice.
I take a breath and force myself to try and conjure up the ugly details.
"I can't remember the name of it." I say frustrated. "It was tall, and it had green and red all over the can." "Something like a four- uhm- a four-"
"A four loko." Death interrupts. "You drank the equivalent of around eight beers and four energy drinks."
There's a searing pain that shoots through the side of my head. I wince in pain and death looks confused, but doesn't comment on my distress. Death continues.
"You died because all the caffeine that was running through your body caused your blood pressure to spike, which made your heart speed up, triggering a heart attack."
I turn around and turn even more pale than I already am. How could I have been so stupid? If I would've just looked at what was in it I would've been smart enough to not even touch it. I'm smarter than that, I am. I wouldn't have drank it, but I did. And now I'm dead. Death is now standing directly behind me and speaks.
"Do you know where you are, Collin?"
