"Oh. Hey Ivy" Jaeden immediately straightened up and tried to fix his hair.
"Hey Jaeden!" Ivy responded happily, truthfully- she wanted to bury herself, but she couldn't let that show to Jaeden.
"I don't want to sound weird, but do we go to the same school?" Ivy questioned."Um-No I don't think so, I got to Northside public." Jaeden responded, packing his keyboard.
"Makes sense, I go to Southside" Ivy tapped her nose and laughed, a genuine laugh.
"Awe, I wanted us to go to the same school and be 'totally best friends' or goals or whatever girls say" Jaeden did a horrible stuck up girl impression.
"Yeah. We would be great best friends" Ivy whispered.
She started feeling sad that them meeting for the second time was just dumb luck.
Suddenly her phone started buzzing, at first she ignored it- but it kept going. When she finally answered the call, it was her house phone, Only her little brother rings her on it.
"Hello?" Ivy questioned
"Ivy? It's Blake!" Blake whispered lightly
"Hey bubba, what's wrong?" Ivy spoke with concern lacing in her voice.
"The house is a mess, Jake went through it, say-saying he had to sort out some things with you" Blake silently cried, obviously scared.
Ivy was really confused now, why did Jake want to sort out some things again, Nancy had already got her hands on Ivy before she bolted.
"There are broken plates, an-and the mirror in the hall shattered completely and we have no plates anymore" Blake sobbed harder, Ivy's heart jumped out the sound; she just wanted to comfort her brother but it was unsafe in that hell of a house.
"Mother is drinking, she's really angry now" Blake had stopped crying when he heard footsteps, "come back safe sissy" He whispered into the phone.
"You betcha, I'll be back in no time okay? Hide in the secret spot and lock the door, I'll get in through the window bubs" Ivy set out a plan and hung up after saying a small 'love you'.
"I-I have to go, that was my brother. I'll see you around sometime" Ivy nodded and stumbled back, into a chair.
"Maybe have my number? We could sort out to do something, whenever your free" Jaeden held his phone out, Ivy quickly put her number in and kissed Jaeden on the cheek- to his surprise; then she ran off into her car.
Jaeden watched intently as her old car zoomed off, making a clattering sound. A tear slipped out of Ivy's eye when she drove off, she just hoped her brother was okay.
When she got back home, the sensory lights were all on, so Ivy had to sneak around the back way to get to her window.
In her room, clothes were scattered around, picture frames broken and much more destruction. "Dear lord" Ivy muttered before quietly shutting and locking her door.
Whenever Blake got scared, he would hide in their 'secret spot'. When you went into Ivy's closet it looked normal, but you could pull the backboard out and it became a new room.
Ivy's Aunty had made the secret spot, for whenever situations with Nancy broke out, she was the only person in the family that the kids trusted (except their father)- simply because she looked straight through their mothers act.
When Ivy made it into the secret room, she saw Blake huddled in the corner distracting himself from the noises going on downstairs. For a 9 year old he had the brain of someone Ivy's age- he is probably smarter than a lot of boys in Ivy's grade.
"Why is it like this?" Blake questioned silently
"Jake tried to do some bad things also Mother and I got into a fight again" Ivy sighed, there wasn't any point keeping it from him anymore.
"Ives, I told you! We have to go to Aunt Becca's" Blake whisper-screamed at his sister.
Ivy got a thought, they could go to their Aunts- but if they both went then Nancy would try to find both of them; she just had to keep Blake safe.
"Pack your things okay?" Ivy nodded at Blake before he clambered out of the closet in a rush.
Ivy sighed at the thought of parting from him, but it had to be done for his safety. Ivy quickly called her Aunt.
"Hey, Aunt Becca?" Ivy spoke into the phone.
"Hey sweetie. How are things? Are you guys okay?" Becca started to get concerned at Ivy's tone.
"No. Things are getting worse" Ivy's voice cracked, trying to hold back her cries.
"Do you need me to come get you guys?" Aunt Becca spoke, Ivy could hear her getting her keys and locking the door.
"I need you to get Blake. And keep him safe from Mother"
