It was a regular day for me, I was looking after my little brother while also wrangling four others of his age. Sure it was hard work but it paid well. Here in the Salum Kingdom, it's for the most part good but not all parts are always the best to be around. Especially at night. I had a close encounter with some of the rogues we have in the alleyways, but luckily I had a few friends close by to help me.
I was the sections babysitter, as they all so fondly call me. I basically look after all the little kids and at the end of the day I get a good pay, enough for me and brother. My father is a blacksmith and my mother is the section's school teacher. I don't see as much of my father as I used to, and my mother these days seems to be under more stress than usual. I don't blame her, she teaches all the pre-teen boys in the section and I've had the pleasure of meeting some of them, and may I say they are one of a kind, and not in the best way possible.
"Ari! Ari!" I looked down to see my younger brother Felton tugging on my worn out brown dress. He was smiling ear to ear as I bed down to give his head a rub,
"What is is buddy?" he began to pull me up the stars by the hem of the dress as I came into view of all four boys sitting in a circle dressed as knights, dragons, and one little boy who was dressed as a princess, well he had the tiara on, pouting in the corner.
I let out a small chuckle as Felton went into his closet and gave me the dragon mask he had made a few days ago. I put it on and turned back around as I put my hands up like claws and chased all the boys around the house. I was out of breath as I made my way up the stairs for about the 20th time and collapsed on the floor. All, almost synchronized, boys soon followed behind me as they all circled around me and stabbed my legs with the small wooden swords dad had made for his last birthday. I was panting hard but used the last of my energy to sit up,
"Alright you five, I think that's enough for today, and if I'm right mom had some dinner cooked up downstairs!" All the boys dropped what they had and rushed to the well to go and wash their hands. I let myself collapse back down onto the floor letting a small smile play on my face.
