'What's happening?'
'What is it?'
She couldn't answer all the questions around her.
If she said it out loud, it would mean it was real.
She was afraid. This was unreal. Unnatural. How can someone steal life?
'Can you please tell us?'
They were all begging.
She sighed.
"He is," this is it. This is when this all becomes real. "He is death."
Silence.
Crying.
Screaming.
'NO!' They shouted.
'He's not real! He can't be.'
She fell to the ground. Her legs giving out. She was truly terrified.
If she were to die, everything would.
Life would end, forever.
'You must stay away from him.'
"I cannot hide forever. I must face him." she stood up from the ground, and started pacing in circle.
He will find me soon.
She knew the stories. She could not hide from death. He was everywhere. He was like her. Unseen to the human eye until their life energy was fading. But instead of restoring that energy to them, Mot stole it. And life died.
'Run'
No. I will not run.
"What do you want from me?"
Oma stared into thoes now familiar soulless eyes.
Mot grinned evilly, "Oma, I just want to do my job. But, how can I do that when you are constantly restoring something that needs rest?"
She thought about what Mot had said;
I allow them rest. Then restore the energy into to life.
It was true, Oma allowed life to rest for a while, then recycled the energy into a new form of life. Recarnation, as some humans referred to the process.
"I also cannot do my job with you opposing me, Mot."
Mot held his wild grin, that gleam of mischief in his eyes told Oma that what he was going to say next, would be something horrible.
"Well, then I suppose there is only room for one then. I'll have you know Oma, death cannot be killed. Life however, I kill that all the time."
And then he was gone.
