~Katherine Harkness~
"Hey, Kitty Kat," A familiar voice called as a handsome man, somewhere in his forties, walked into the large room Katherine Harkness was working in. The man had raven black hair, a nice build and big blue eyes. A strand of his hair fell in front of his perfectly sculpted face, like something out of the movies. He wore a white button up t-shirt, black slacks and suspenders under a dark blue trench coat. He was easily the most handsome man anyone in Wales had ever laid their eyes on. And no one she knew ever let her forget it.
Katherine looked up to meet his eyes before glancing back down at her keyboard, typing a couple of more words, "Hey, Papi. What's up?"
"Your mother and I have to go out of town tonight. Some emergency thing in America, the UNIT needs some help. It really can't wait. We should have left an hour ago. Can you hold down the fort here for a couple weeks?"
The sixteen year old girl stopped typing almost instantly. She bit her lower lip. "You're giving me free reign of Wales? You really must be desperate."
"You're right. I should call a babysitter. Who knows about aliens and is still alive?" He furrowed his eyebrows, a crease appearing on his forehead.
"No, no, no! I got it, Papi! I promise not to kill any civilians while you're away." She grinned at the thought of her parents finally letting her do something on her own. She wasn't a child anymore, after all.
"Awesome. So, stay out of trouble, make some friends, and be good."
"I will when you will."
"... Fat chance." Her father grinned down at her. Sure, he felt bad lying to her, but if she knew the truth, the consequences could be catastrophic. This is what needed to happen... for the greater good.
Jack took on last glance at his baby girl. His last heir left. His rock. Her light brown shoulder blade length hair that she preferred parted mostly over to the left side. Her brilliantly blue eyes (she got them from him). Her smile that could melt the frozen volcanoes of Raskala, the planet of ice. She had grown up to much for his liking. She had been a baby only fifteen years ago and now she was old enough to fight aliens all on her own.
"... Goodbye, Katherine."
"Bye, Papi."
~Jacqueline Tyler~
Jackie hugged her STAR Labs hoodie around herself as the building fell down around her. It was hectic. People were running in every direction. Fires burned every few feet. Pillars continuously collapsed all around. But the screams... the screams were the worst. Jackie closed her eyes, trying to drown out the screams, the smell, and the sight... everything that was going on around her. She knew what she was supposed to do. She was supposed to find Cisco Ramon and have him breech her down to Earth-1, where she would meet the Captain, Jack Harkness, that her mother was so fond of. However, she just couldn't bring herself to move a single muscle, how could she be expected to move her entire body to the West Wing of the Torchwood Hub.
"Get yourself together, Tyler!" She shouted at herself, opening her eyes. "What would dad do? What would dad do?"
"Jackie!" Speak of the devil. "Why are you still here?"
"Daddy!" She let out a breath of relief. "I couldn't leave you guys! Where is mom? We can go together!"
TenToo Tyler grabbed his daughter's face in his hands. "Jackie! You know the plan! This was always the plan! We can't go with you! I don't know where your mother is and this place will likely blow any minute. Run."
Jackie flinched and screamed as another pillar collapsed, blocking off all entries to the East Wing. "I can't do it, Dad. Please, please, don't make me do this!"
