It was Sunday the next morning. Niall was driving me to my place, while I was directing him. Today was a beautiful day which you rarely see, London nearly never have days like these, it's mostly rainy. The sun was out, and as we drove by I saw families on their front porches while the kids where riding their bikes up and down the neighbour blocks. Whilst in the car with Niall,m I had two things on my mind. Firstly is, I had hoped that June had the kettle on, cause I was dying for a coffee and a good cooked breakfast.
l couldn't also help but to think about how suspicious Natalie was yesterday on the phone, reason being, something about the way she talked to me was a bit off. The fact that she was telling me to definitely not give up, to take a brake before I keep searching for a new salon, which for me was asking a lot. It was also strange how quickly she was to rush off the phone, but maybe she just had a client to attend to, or something argent came up.
I decided when I got home I would jump on the laptop straight away, to find a new place. The quicker I find one, the faster I can start on my apprenticeship.
"Are you okay? You've been quiet all morning" Niall questions. I don't know how to answer. Should I tell him about the interview and how I was declined, or should I just say that I'm tired and hungry. 'I'm not lying either way..?' I thought.
Niall has always been so comforting towards me, always been there, but I don't want him to worry about me. Sometimes I feel that I have to suck it up and just deal with my own problems on my own.
"Yer I'm okay, just thinking" I responded, hoping that he would leave it alone. Which he never does.
"About?" Niall asks, always knowing better. I sighed, cause I really didn't want to tell him about my interview failure, but knowing Niall he didn't take a sigh for an answer. "Jonnie, I know your 'just thinking' shit. You obviously have something important on your mind. Spill." So fucking persistent, just as if he where to read my thoughts. We are such close friends that he practically can, so I decided to just tell him.
"Okay, umm..I - l" this is harder than I thought, and I can tell Niall is getting a bit impatient, as I see him glancing between the road and me. "I had an interview on Friday with H.E.S" I finally admit.
"Are you serious! Jonny that's amazing! That's like your dream job!" I couldn't help but chuckle at how excited he was for me "Oh my god what happened, what did they say? Did you get the job? " Niall asks excitingly. As soon as he asked I felt myself frowning again, remembering the conversation with Natalie yesterday.
"No, I didn't" I say with a heartbroken smile. Niall's beautiful grin dropped immediately, and I could see the pity in he's eyes.
"Oh god Jonny, I'm sorry" Niall says sincerely, as he pulls up to the curb in front of my flat. As soon as he stopped, he unbuckled he's seat belt and gives me a hug. "Don't worry about it, im sure you'll find another job, and when you do, you'll smash it and then they will regret not hiring you" Niall comforts me with encouraging words, and with that, I couldn't help but think of how great my best friend is. Just the way it has always been when I would be sad or heartbroken, he would make me feel better, saying that it's the other persons fault, not mine. But sometimes it bothers me when he says it. Because say, if one day it was my fault, and if I get treated like this. I won't be able to learn my lesson or know if I have done something wrong.
"It's okay, I'm thinking of applying for LouHS" I say as we pull apart "She's also an amazing hairdresser. I'm pretty sure she was awarded the best female hairdresser in Britain, and she's also an incredible fashion designer. So yer, I'm going to look into that" I declare again, with a hopeful tone.
"That's great Jons! Show those fuckers that your the best" I couldn't help but laugh at Niall. He's always so supportive in everything I do.
"Anyway, are you sure you don't wanna come in for a coffee or tea, or even something to eat?" I ask him for what seems like the millionth time this morning before our little conversation about H.E.S. Even thinking about it makes me feel a little on edge.
