The crescent moon, a sight to behold and praise,
Marks the start of the Month of Fast, The month of Sawm,
The lantern symbolic, guides through the dim and dark,
For the month of Ramadan is guidance for the heart.
It holds the night of Al Qadr, of power, measure and decree
The night the first revelation from heaven descended,
Pray through the night, remember your Lord and repent
A thousand months is unmatched to the night of destiny.
From dawn to sunset, worldly desires caged and withheld,
The time to practice the path of our beloved messenger,
The time to ponder on the hardships of hunger and trail,
Ultimately the time to cleanse the pitch darkness beneath.
A salvation to the hungry soul, the month of Ramadan upholds,
A chance to please your Creator through discipline and restrain,
A month to give, A month to share, charity like the Messenger said,
Devotion to the Almighty above, self-discovery in the righteous path.
