"Umm..." I felt a light tap on my right shoulder. Currently I was positioned on the stair entrance to our school feeling not at all uncomfortable as the usual group of cheerleaders who sat where I was sitting now gave me the death glare. I turned around to see Milo, white hair, green eyes, and a shifting glance at everything around him.

"Hey." I looked back at my phone to change the song. "You can sit down, I might bite you but I don't have rabies." I added after serious thought.

"Oh, umm, okay... thanks." He took a seat next to me, with his legs tucked under him on the step below the one he was sitting on. He gave me a confused look and asked, "Why are you sitting backwards?"

I looked down and sure enough, my back was to the people coming up the steps and my legs were under me criss-cross-applesauce style. I gave small shrug and said, "There was no one who ever said that sitting this way was backwards. The world just assumes that your feet should be on the ground in front of you like the way you're doing. I am perfectly frontward. and so are you."

He gave me a curious look and told me, "That kind of thinking is dangerous you know."

"Thanks. Now lets get to that grand tour I promised you..." I stood and offered him a hand up. He took it and when I pulled him up beside me we sort of held hands for a few seconds. Then I dropped his as his face became what must have been an unbearable red for him.

I started to walk away, not bothering to look back to see if he was following me and made my way to the main office, across the grassy front of the school. I could hear Milo's quick steps behind me as I made it to the front door and held it open for him. He gave me a small nod in thanks then went straight to the front desk. The secretary that sat their was writing something down on a stickey note while talking on the phone.

"...Yes! And when Stetheno gave that necklace to Kate and she just went with it. I wanted to hurl my remote through the TV!" She exclaimed, obviously talking to a friend, not someone important.

Milo stood there patiently and nervously, while scratching at his thumb and twisting around the ring that was placed there. After five minutes of being ignored he started shifting on his feet and adverted his eyes to around the room.

Well, screw this. I went over to the desk and tapped on the counter. The woman didn't even look up. I gave a look to Milo like, And the mega bitch of the year award goes to this woman right here. He just widened his eyes because he didn't know what to do.

I then took things to the next level. Without hesitation I leaned over the desk and snapped my fingers under the woman's nose. Wait, I've gone here for three years and I don't know this woman's name? I mean, I've definitely seen her face but, no name? She started and leaned way back in her chair. "Excuse me young man-"

"You're excused. Now if you wouldn't mind doing your job, this kid's new and needs his schedule." I put a limited amount of sass in my voice with a pinch of sarcasm and a hint of I have better things to be doing than listening to you fan-girl with your forty year old friends about Day's of Our Lives.

She pursed her lips and put the phone on hold. In an unpleasant voice she asked, "Name?"

I looked over at him; Your turn.

He gulped and whispered, "Milo Sterner."

"Grade?"

"Tenth, Sophomore."

She clicked a few times on the screen then I heard the sound of a giant machine that will someday take control of the government in the back room. She left to get the paper off of the printer and came back with it a few moments later with a stern look.
