Passing through the village the tightening in my chest only got worse, my eyes watering but I refused to cry. I've had a good childhood but now its time to move on. I'm starting my exams in the summer at my new school so that's what I got to focus on. I played my hair as I lay back trying to relax. It should take about 4 maybe 5 hours to get to London. I sighed, Soothing beats from my headphones filling my ears. My exhaustion kicking in. I didn't realise how tired I was. The sunset form beyond the horizon going black as I closed my eyes, Drifting into a peaceful doze.

I felt a light tapping on my shoulder. I woke up, looked up and saw my mother "we're at a service station, do you need the loo or anything?"
I rubbed my eyes and took of my headphones, "yes actually." I looked around I was surprised by how dark it was.
"ok well, Tristan is staying in the car while I get some food, Tristan wanted some crisps, do you want anything?" she said while shuffling through her bag for her purse presumably.
"Oh, uhm yes, Can I please have some chocolate buttons?" I sat up properly.
"Ok cool, I'll meet you back at the car" we got out of the and walked to the entrance. "Ok see you." She walked left to WHSmith and I walked ahead following the signs to the toilets.
There wasn't anyone there, so I walked straight in, went into a stall and done my business. I walked out I went to the row of sinks to wash my hands. I casually looked up to the large mirror in front of me and I saw something behind me. Frightened, I turned around to see who it was.
There was nothing there.
I never heard anyone walk in, strange. I shrugged it off. I looked back to the mirror, my hair an absolute mess, I messily tied it up, baby hairs framing my face quite nicely. I thought about wearing my hair like this for my first day at the new school. Still feeling a bit uneasy I left and walked back to the car, My mother already there. I got into the car. "dang, you we're quick" I joked.
My mother giggled "Yes silly, we need to be at the new house and get the keys by six and its five-thirty" She started the car once I got my seat belt on. "We're about twenty minuets away" She smiled at me and started to drive off. I looked beck and saw a blurry figure under and ominous lamppost.
What the fuck?
I shivered "Hey you got those buttons?" Tristen tossed them back at me. "Cheers" I put my headphones back on and dug into my chocolate buttons.
Mum took the next exit off the motor way and now we were passing through the streets of London, or at least the close suburbs of London. The houses we passed were so tall and pressed up together, it's almost suffocating.
Another couple minuets of driving we saw the moving van there. Mum pulled up near the house as there were still cars outside the house and another moving van. She got out the car and told us to stay inside. We saw her go up to greet the people moving out of the house and they shook her hand warmly and shone a lovely smile. They handed what seemed to be the keys over to my mother and they talked for a bit. Once they were done talking they waved good bye and drove off with their moving van. Mum came back to the car and waved the keys at us and smiled, she opened the car door "Well, boys and girls welcome to our new humble abode." Mum was quite secretive about the new house, said it was supposed to be a surprise. We got out the car and saw the moving guys already packing our stuff into the house, we got our bags and entered the house.
The house looked very much like the others that decorated this street, old bricks surrounded its border with newly painted, white window frames. The door quite large, also newly painted, its deep brown colour complimented the house nicely. I was first to enter. The first to meet me was a homely greeting area, to my left a tv room with an old-fashioned fireplace, ahead of me was the kitchen. It looked quite modern for the rustic feel of this house, it had granite table tops. Of course, my mother loved her granite table tops. I scoffed. The winding staircase was obviously the star of this house, its steps coiling around the house. "Mum, where my room?" I called.
"Oh, darling it's the best in the house! I know this move is difficult for you so I though you'd get the best room. Sorry Tristen" Tristen didn't really care as long as he has a place to sleep. He's never really been to picky. "It's the top floor, it was an attic but have been newly renovated into a room. It's very lovely."
"If I get killed by a dead child who died in that attic I'm blaming you" I jeered "No wonder you wanted me to take that room" I shook my head chuckling as I climbed the stairs. There were three rooms on the second floor assuming one is my brothers and one is my mothers, the other must be a bathroom. I doubt in hell that my mum will ever share a bathroom with Tristen, she must have an en suite. I carried on going up the stairs, Jesus this stair case just keeps on going. I finally got to the top floor, the hallway very small, there was only one door which I assumed was my room. I hauled my bags and left them outside the door as I entered the room. Another staircase? There were only a couple steps, I walked up the to meet a large window left of the staircase, the curtains a translucent white, it complements the lovely light grey walls kindly. There is an inbuilt wardrobe in front of me and a door to the right corner. Curiously, I opened the door. It's a bathroom, wicked I have an en suite.
There was a knock on the door to the bed room, I walked out and down the small staircase to see who it was, it was the moving men moving the furniture from my old room into here. I took this opportunity to take my bags of clothes up and for now I just shoved them into the inbuilt wardrobe. They swiftly done their job, moving my chest of drawers next to the arch way where they had just entered and my vanity beside it, they also placed my mirror on the wall next to the inbuilt wardrobe closest to the window. They brought up my bed frame and my mattress, they put up my bed frame I asked if I could help but they seemed to be able to handle it by themselves. I thanked them once they had done, I got some help putting my mattress on my bed. They brought the last couple of boxes up and they were done. I thanked them again and they left.
I sighed and started to make my bed, I opened on of the boxed filled with my bed sheets and some spares and put the ones I wanted to use on the bed and the rest at the bottom of my wardrobe. I dressed the bed with purple bed sheets. I opened the box filled with my pillows and blankets and threw my pillows on and some purple throw pillows and a lovely yellow circular, fluffy pillow; I also lay a big knit yellow blanket at the end of the bed. I opened the last box which had all my textbooks, normal fiction books and posters. I got out some bluetac which was inside the box also and started to decorate my room with my band posters and a large pulp fiction poster. I didn't realise how my chest of drawers, and my vanity, as well as my bed frame matched the grey on my walls quite well.
I took a step back to admire my work. I'm actually quite proud, it looks really good. The room is much bigger and better than my old room. I moved my books under my bed and threw the empty boxed to the side of my room. I lay down for a bit and stretched out my back. I checked out the time on my phone, it's nine-twenty-eight. Dang that took a long time. My phone vibrated, it's a text from my mum saying to come downstairs, take out has arrived. Fuck yeah, takeout! I leaped up and dashed down the stairs, bringing my boxes with me. Once I got down stairs I noticed that there was a sea of empty boxes filling the greeting area, I threw my boxed among them. I went into the kitchen to see my mum putting fish and chips on each plate for everyone. "Hey baby cakes, I think were done unpacking. Its just my room that hasn't been done yet. I spent my whole time doing the living room and the kitchen. Looks nice, though right?" She smiled as she handed me a plate.
"Are u kidding it looks amazing! It feels just like home." I beamed back and started to dig in. Tristen groggily walked in and took a plate. "hey there, u done unpacking?"
"Uh yeah" he seemed disconnected. "Ugh, I'm so damn tired"
"Well you should've slept on the way here" I argued.
"I wasn't tried then, I'm tired now" He slurred he ate quite quickly then headed off back to his room to sleep.
"Ok, so its Saturday tomorrow I'll finish packing tomorrow then late afternoon then I'll go throw out all the boxes. Got anything planned for tomorrow?" Mum spoke up.
"Oh, probably not. I might just take a walk to get to know my surroundings." I finished off my food, washed up the plate and put it on the drying rack.
"Good Idea baby. You going to bed as well?" I nodded and marched back up the stairs. These damn stairs will keep me so fit. My legs will look so good in a couple of weeks. I got to my room and took off my hoodie and jumped into bed and fell asleep almost instantly. God today was so tiring. After getting over the initial sadness I actually am quite excited to be in a new place with a wicked room. I'm kind of scared for school on Monday, but in sure I'm just making things seem worse in my head than it actually is.
