"And now folks, give it up for July Summers!"
Stacey gave me a big hug before I glided over to my mark. I envisioned Yuri's starting pose and mirrored it. My heart pounded against my chest, but with a focused breath, I let my mind clear. Any and all distractions disappeared. The sounds of the crowd hushed into silence and I waited for the music.
"Her routine as she calls it, is E Spin Off..."
Right on cue, the guitar came on over speakers and I bent over, trailing my hand up my thigh and flipping the frills of my skirt out behind me as I started off on the ice.
My body flowed majesticaly with the music, every now and then I added a little July flare, making it exactly what it was meant to be. My first jump was coming up, and what I had planned wasn't too fancy, just enough to wow the people watching. A triple axel.
"And she sticks her first jump! A beautiful Triple Axel! Fantastic!"
I breathed a sigh of relief as I moved into a short step sequence. I let the music flow through my body as if I was caught in the current of a river. I swayed my hips, gliding gracefully around the rink. I prepared for my next jump, double salchow.
"Beautiful! The Ice Queen, as she is called by many, has come and brought a magnificant show for us tonight! Only seventeen, and already she has blown away her audience with her incredible skills on the ice!"
"So true. July Summers is known around her home town and those surrounding it as the Ice Queen, and we can see why."
I kept my breathing easy and calm, the comments from the announcers echoing through the rink. A sly smirk pulled it's way to my lips. I swept my gaze over the entranced audience and smiled. My final jump almost upon me. My Quad Flip. I swiftly travled around the end and closed my eyes. And then...
"OUTSTANDING!! July Summers has just landed a Quadruple Flip! With a move like that, with such complexity and energy needed for execution, it is unbelievable that she landed such a powerful jump!"
"I fully agree! She is only seventeen! How she was able to do a jump that even grown men have difficulty performing is beyond me! And at the end of her routine, no less, when fatigue will be at it's worst! It is such an honor to have her here for this small town competition!"
I was beaming at the reaction I earned. I knew it would be worth it to pull out my secret weapon. I'm positive that if Yuri had been watching, he would be proud.
I finished my routine with my spin, and slowed to a stop, arching my back, my shoulder blades touching the cold ice, my arms spread out behind me. I heaved, my breath coming out in clouds as the crowds erupted into applause, cat calls and whistles ringing through the open space.
"That was magnificent! Now I understand why she's so populer in her home town. She truly IS The Ice Queen!"
"A spin off of the short performance by Grand Prix finalist Yuri Katsuki, Eros! The Ice Queen, July Summers, and her spectacular performance, Eros Spin Off!"
Time skip, After the compitition
"I told you you would win!" Stacey chided, eyeing the small medal slung around my neck. I gripped the small, golden trophy in my hand and looked at it, smiling.
"Yeah, well, you still got second! You deffinetly would have won if I hadn't competed. You should consider that a win." I smiled. "You think Owen will like this?" I said, holding up the trophy.
"July, I'm sure he'll love it!"
"He loves everything I bring back." I sighed, rolling my eyes.
"And he should! You're his cousin, his role model, his idol! He's gonna love every single thing that has anything to do with you and the ice, my Queen!" Stacey giggled, poking my side.
