I woke the next morning to my phone ringing. I answered not reading the caller ID, and when I heard the voice I immediately came to my senses.
"Hello?" I answered sleepily.
"Good morning, is this August Dew?" I knew that voice, it haunted me all last night.
"Yes, may I ask who is speaking?"
"I'm Eros Asher of Asher Enterprises." My eyeballs nearly flew out of their sockets.
"W-Wha-" I started coughing after choking on air.
"Woah, calm down! I have an offer for you." 'This man is the CEO of the world's largest chain.'
"What is it Sir?" He laughed.
"Just call me Eros, we're friends now, okay?" I was having a hard time believing this.
"O-okay, what's the offer?"
"I found your wallet after we bumped into each other, and I would like for you to be my P.A."
I choked again.
"Your personal assistant!?"
"Yes, so how about we meet in my building around noon today? I'll find you in the lobby."
"Uh, s-sure..." I was at a loss for words.
"Great! See you then August."And the call ended. I sat there taking everything in.
'So I just got a job. With a high salary. For the Eros Asher himself. And I'm now his friend.'
I felt myself smile for the first time since yesterday.
'My luck's beginning to turn!'
I later showered and borrowed one of Uncle Mark's smaller suits. After chugging down a glass of milk, I grabbed my phone and ran out not wanting to be late.
I decided to walk seeing that I had time to spare, and it could help me clear my head.
'Since my luck is turning, maybe I'll be able to go home again and see Lacey! But even if I can't go back, I will find a way to see her.'
I reveled under the warmth of the sun, and hummed while walking to the building.
Everyone knows where Asher Enterprises is, so an address or GPS isn't needed. Not even ten minutes later I arrived.
In front of me lied a colossal building made of sheer glass. I was in speechless at its size.
On the floor lied a red carpet, which went into the building. As I neared the doors, the two security guards on each side stopped me.
"Name?" I was taken back.
"August Dew."
They nodded, and suddenly the two giant doors opened, and a blast of cold air hit me.
Both literally and metaphorically.
The inside was huge. There were glass escalators, a chandelier, and a ton of security guards. I decided to sit in one of the couches and wait for Eros to find me so I took that time to think.
'I hope Lacey is okay... My mom can get pretty touchy when she's ready, but she loves Lacey so much... She wouldn't hurt her.'
I took out my phone and smiled when I saw my lock screen. It was a picture of Lacey and I using the kitten filter.
"Aww, who is she?"
I jumped surprised, and looked up finding Eros sitting in front of me. I sighed relieved.
"Did I scare you?" I laughed softly,
"A little." I stood up and shook hands with Eros. He was at least 6' and he worked out a lot. You can tell just by looking at him.
"And she's my little sister Lacey. She means the world to me..." I smiled thinking about her adorable smile.
"You're so cute! Awww." I was taken back by Eros' words and the way his eyes sparkled when he said that. It was oddly attractive.
"Let's go to my office, okay?" I nodded and as we walked there, Eros started talking. "Please tell me you weren't running away from home yesterday."
I looked to Eros surprised. "What makes you think that?" He looked embarrassed, "I noticed you had a lot of stuff in your bag, no one carries their underwear and toothbrush around with them..."
We stepped onto the elevator, "Ha, that's true..."
'I don't want to start off this friendship with lies, so I guess I'll tell him a little...'
"I was kicked out."
"What!?" Eros looked taken back, "Why?" I scratched the back of my neck, "Well, I guess you could say I wanted acceptance from my mom, but she didn't give me any..."
I looked up and Eros, but before I could meet his eyes he pulled me into a tight hug. This time I was taken back.
"E-Eros?" He didn't say anything, but he kept me in his arms and he soothingly rubbed my back.
"There there, it's alright. I too, was kicked out of my home, but my mom apologized for overreacting a few days later."
After we shared a comforting hug, we went into his office and sat. "You cried, right?" I tilted my head to the side, "How'd you know?"
Eros chuckled softly, "Your eyes... You looked like your murdered someone." I held back a laugh, "But, I'm alright now. I'm staying wiith my uncle, and I'm going to see Lacey soon. I just don't know when."
As I was speaking, I felt a hand on my head, and my hair being played with. I looked to Eros.
"Hey," I furrowed my eyebrows, "I'm not a baby you know?" Eros shushed me, "Just talk. Tell me everything."
